Banter Brewing Co — Restaurant in Springfield

Banter is excellent for several reasons:

1. They make a tasty variety of beers. Everything from a light, crispy, clean, and clovey German hefeweizen to a dark, sweet, boozy aged stout. They have a sour too that I enjoy, and I'm not normally a sour guy. But they have a coconut / pineapple one that is refreshing and just a tad tangy.
2. Their flagship beer Iron Gospel IPA is one of the best Hazy IPAs I've ever had. Fruity on the nose, but not overpoweringly sweet.
3. Their Triptych series, which is a base beer and two variants based off it, is always delightful to experiment with.
4. It has a bar you can belly up to with great bartenders who will chat about almost any topic you can think up. Hence, the "banter" that's part of the name.
5. There's a crew of regulars (I think I qualify), but everyone is welcome to join in any time!
6. They have a spacious side-room for live music and events, which means you can either go rock out there on the comfy furniture, or you can stay in the main bar area and you don't have to shout to make yourself heard.
7. While there isn't always a food truck, there's a great pizza place just around the corner (Marco's). Food + beer is always great! If you haven't been to Banter yet, it's worth your time to enjoy several pints and the conversation! Say hi to Brian, John,...

My husband and I went to Banter for the first time to meet some friends. He had to work late so we were late in arriving and had just missed them.

While some of them had gone to a second bar, we decided to stay for a beer anyway and are so glad we did! We were warmly welcomed by Tom the owner as well as some regulars sitting at the bar! Tom offered us several samples, told us about the brews, later answer questions about their mug club, and invited us to come back on a Monday when lots of regulars would be there to talk to!

The bar is small and therefore even a little loud but it's incredibly warm and welcoming! I loved every sample we had including the Bannas Foster - if beer was a dessert, that would be it! It was so unique, but my favorite was definitely the Hefeweizen which is always my go-to style of beer choice.

After we each drank our beer, we opted to split a third and Tom was so kind as to give us each our own smaller glass. ☺️

We are so glad our friends told us about Banter and we're looking forward to...

Banter Brewing Co. absolutely nails it — from the quality of the beer to the vibe of the space, everything is dialed in. You can tell the team here takes pride in what they do. The taps rotate just enough to keep things fresh, but the staples are solid every time. Great balance of creativity and quality.
