Just okay. The food was okay and the service was friendly enough but there was nothing special about it. Usually, we love places with very little ambiance because you get amazing food for a great price. This place didn't live up to that expectation. The food was just okay and the price was a bit high for a place with absolutely no atmosphere. I had the carne asada torta and my husband had tripa tacos. The tripa tacos were $2.50 each which is pretty standard but they didn't ask if he wanted the tripa soft or crunchy and it came soft which isn't his preference or the most common thing, based on our experience of having eaten a lot of tripa. It was flavorful like tripa is, but nothing special, and it would have been better crunchy or to have been given the choice. My carne asada torta was fine, but it was $7.99, at lunchtime, and it came with nothing at all on the side. I think 7.99 at lunchtime for a sandwich with absolutely nothing on the side is a way above average price. For $10.99 at lunchtime, I can go to someplace fancy and have a sandwich with a side and a nice view or some other kind of atmosphere. Or at another Mexican restaurant I could get a full combo meal at lunch time for that price. Mexican food is my absolute favorite cuisine. This food wasn't bad, but the price was absolutely not competitive. If I was stuck in the area while having my car repaired, I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again but I wouldn't go...
Read moreI’ve been eyeing the market since I’ve moved to the area and finally went in today. They have many good things there and it’s relatively clean.
I don’t believe I will return there though, unfortunately. I grabbed tortillas and continued to look around the store. I did find it off putting that there was a bug sitting on the packaging but figured with the weather it makes sense- and the tortillas were packaged to keep it safe from the elements. I noticed that the produce is sparse and wilting away which led me to question whether or not to trust the stores other items such as the baked goods that looked delicious.
Before we made it to the front I happened to turn my package over and noticed a slit in the tortilla. There was a living maggot squirming away in there. Honestly, I’m not one to judge for little mishaps because life happens but I was concerned that the woman behind the counter did not really know what to do and did not say much when she saw it moving.
Now, I’m an awkward person and was feeling squeamish so I walked out without buying anything but after reading other people’s experiences from eating at the restaurant, I’m thinking that there is a huge disconnect with upkeep and food safety.
I truly hope things turn around for them because it is a neat little place and could be super busy if a few things...
Read moreI came here over the summer and had one of the best burritos I’ve had in Eugene so I thought, why not come back I was craving it. Me and my friend ordered the exact same thing, two beef burritos with sour cream, and we both had empty stomachs prior and didn’t eat anything other than a few chips after. Both of us around 3:30pm yesterday started feeling ill and ended up coming down with the worst food poisoning we’ve ever had. I threw up on the plane, and threw up again when I landed consistently until 4am. I still feel ill and it’s been almost 20 hours of illness. Always support small business and I can say the first time I had this food it was delicious! But make sure to double check dates on food and cook everything thoroughly because like I said I’ve never been so sick in my...
