El Trenecito — Restaurant in Springfield

Looking for a quick grab for lunch? Here's the place. Had never heard of it before and hadn't seen it. I pull up and I see it's a little stand on the corner - basically a stationary food truck.

Now, I know what to expect from the names of the items they've got on the menu as I grew up with this stuff, and for what they're pricing this stuff at? One word, honest. For around $9 you can get yourself a torta to fill yourself and a "Quesataco" to snack on. Wait time was about 7 minutes.

After having enjoyed my meal, I can tell you that I have never had green and red sauce like this before. The sauces are creamy and aren't super watery like I had expected. I can taste the green sauce has a great taste of tomatillo, and the red sauce.... don't let its color deceive you, this guy's got kick.

Next time I'm in town I WILL be coming...

I came here after reading some positive reviews on Nextdoor. I enjoyed my burrito. The man who took my order was super nice and seemed appreciative of my business. Now for the stuff you NEED to know about this place... its basically a house with a small building added onto it that functions as a front counter. The dining area is outside at a patio table in plastic chairs. I get the sense that this is primarily a takeout place. The neighbors to re restraunt all seem to be nice people as well... but this is a residential neighborhood... so people are chillin' with their dogs in their front yards and living their lives. This is fine for me. Some people may not like the very "street-level"...

The food cart at El trenecito offers excellent street tacos that remind me of the authentic ones in California. I loved that I could order Carne Asada and have it cooked fresh to order, ensuring its freshness without any grease from earlier cooking. The service was fast and efficient, making it a great choice for anyone seeking real and authentic street tacos.
