We went here for lunch because our youngest (17) really liked it there and normally, if he likes a place, we do, too. Not this time!
While the atmosphere was on par with most restaurants of this type, it really wasn't anything special.
Our server was a very soft spoken young man. I admit that I have hearing loss (nothing a hearing aid can fix) and even told the young man that I couldn't hear him over the noise in the restaurant. He took our drink order and returned a short time later, placing my drink in front of my wife and her drink in front of me. That should have been an indicator of what was to come.
He returned with our cheese dip and took our order. I ordered the Enchilada Supreme, "substitute an additional beef for the bean" (this is ALWAYS how I order this anywhere we go). He replied, "Got it"...I think, again, he was very soft spoken, but I was focusing very hard on what he was saying because I could barely hear him. Now, this is a meal I try to order in any new Mexican restaurant we eat at because it is a common menu item everywhere and it is a good gauge for me to use on how much I will like a place and whether or not I will be back.
The order arrived rather quickly, which I thought was interesting. I took a bite of the first enchilada on the right; I couldn't taste any meat, just the corn tortilla. I took a bite of the second enchilada. Same taste. Third...beans. I almost gagged, and quickly ate a chip with cheese dip to try and get the taste out of my mouth. I HATE refried beans. The texture, the taste, the look...all of it. The fourth enchilada was cheese. I then looked at each one closely and found that the first was chicken, with almost all the chicken at one end. The two middle were bean, and the last was cheese. I removed the plate from beneath the cheese dip and placed the two bean enchiladas on this plate. At this point, my meal is ruined as I am nauseated by the beans. The waiter returns and I tell him the issue. I could tell he wanted to argue with me, but chose not to do so, simply saying that I had told him to substitute bean for the beef, which as I have already stated, I order this exactly the same way at EVERY Mexican restaurant we eat. He takes them away and shortly returns with two beef enchiladas...with NO lettuce, NO tomatoes, NO cheese and NO sour cream on them. That was pretty much strike three for this place.
I fought through and finished the chicken and cheese enchiladas, but found that they weren't that impressive, either, as the chicken was cold, and let's face it, cheese enchiladas are boring. I couldn't bring myself to eat the two beef and brought them home, but even today, the day after, I have zero desire to attempt to eat them.
Both my wife and I left the restaurant feeling ill and completely unimpressed.

Read moreThis review is for the Glenstone location which I've tried to call numerous times in order to make this right but it goes straight to voicemail so I'm going to Google reviews. Our group of 25 clients with disabilities wanted to eat here for Cinco de Mayo so we had to drive our order up there because we couldn't call to order. We gave them an hour heads up before we came in, made sure it would be wheelchair accessible and gave them my number in case they had any questions. Our group came in and the food they brought us had all been changed, mixed up, left out etc. These clients have strict dietary needs because of things such as diabetes, hirschprungs, allergies and sensitivity due to comorbidities and we had some have to travel home with puke bags because of this. It took me all morning to plan each meal according to their diets and everything was changed without my consent?! So wrong! Not only that, all of our meals were budgeted to be under $10 because our school only has a certain amount for outings each month and I get a bill of over $400 not including tip, which put us at $500. I had finally gotten a hold of Jose Locos by having one of my staff hand a waiter their phone and he explained why the bill was so high. I was looking at an old menu with old prices! I understood in the moment that that was my bad for not noticing but the more I thought about it, the more I was bothered. They saw that I wrote "lunch specials" with each lunch special meal number next to their name. They knew beyond a doubt I was looking at the old menu because they had to modify and leave things out to make it fit to their new menu. They dont even have a lunch specials section now in their new menu. They had an hour before we got there to call me up and get my consent to change our orders and charge me the new...
Read moreTried it out for lunch due to a suggestion from a friend. Nothing really special for me as this place was just like any other Mexican restaurant. The salsa was ok, and they serve the thin cantina style chips. I ordered the chimichanga with fajita meat. So here's the strange thing. I was going to order the lunch special chimichanga with fajita meat and the waitress told me it would cost more if i asked for fajita meat. Her recommendation was to order the dinner plate as i would be able to get it with the fajita meat and have the dinner style portion. I ordered the dinner plate which was $10+ and when I received my lunch plate, it was not the size of the dinner plate. It wasn't a big deal for me as I didn't initially want the dinner sized portion, but wanted others to be aware if this happens to them. I thought the food was cooked well and brought out in a timely fashion, but it's nothing special and I can't think of anything that Jose Locos does that seperates itself from any other Mexican restaurant.
