Listen… I wanted to keep supporting the dream. I really did. I’ve been coming here since the days when Juvenal and his wife were baking magic out of their tiny apartment, and we all pretended that slightly burnt conchas were “rustic.” But now? Now that success has come knocking? The bread’s still warm, but the welcome sure isn’t!!!

The store smells like heaven, the bolillos are perfect, and the 3 leches cake is a certified sugar trap. But the owner, oh lawd. She treats customers like contestants on a reality show called “You Think You’re Getting That Pan Dulce? THINK AGAIN.”

She looks at you like you’ve insulted her ancestors if you ask for anything slightly different! I asked for 3 leches cake without fruit (because my suegra is allergic to fruit, sorry she was blessed with this allergy) and she slapped me with a $25 “customization fee.” What did the cake go through-therapy?!?

Being Chicana and from California, I can tell you this place is 100% MEXICANO AUTENTICO. It has been SO HARD to find REAL MEXICAN FOOD in this state. So much of the 'Mexican food', while good, caters to the tastes of the White Americans that live here. But when I tell you que los tamales de esta panaderia saben como los de mi mama, I fell in love! The tamales are so fresh and good! Las Aguas Frescas are made to order! So when you order get ready to hear the blender working it's magic because these are so refreshing. My husband ordered his first torta de milanesa and he was blown away! I ordered a chicharron con cueritos and it was a nice light brunch before we headed home. I am so excited to continue coming here and trying everything else they have. They don't have a huge selection but what we have tried so far tastes like home. The lady at the front has been very kind and she is so quick to make our order. A little bit of everything I love. Mexican food; tortas, burritos, tacos, flautas, enchiladas, etc... But that's not all!! They also have smoothies for all sorts of things. Read it off of their menu, they are delicious and if you want to add protien powder they have that too! So so good. Not quiet done yet though, because they also have dessert. Tres leches cake, chocoflan, fresh baked Mexican bread. I know I sound like I work there or know the establishment owner I don't really, we have been ordering birthday/event cakes from them since before they opened up shop but knowing them personally not really it was all about the cake.
