I forgot to get his name but the young man at the cashier was super nice. It was my first time at a mission bbq establishment. *We also witnessed an employee in the back cleaning, with gloves, then open a oven and touch food with the same dirty chemical laced gloves!! He did this a couple times.* My favorite side was the collards, they were a little different than most places that serve them. They were savory, with a little kick, not over seasoned or salty, or sweet(thank goodness)! They had canned tomatoes added to it, I liked it. The baked beans with brisket was really good, needed more brisket, and less bbq sauce.(I like my baked beans on the sweeter side) The mac and cheesešŸ¤”... it wasn't nasty. I'll just never order it again. It was seasoned well, but it was also kinda dry. The corn bread tested like the old fashioned kind my grandmother used to make! But sweeter, and just needed a little butter. The spare ribs were kinda thin, but tasty and fall off the bone with a moist texture like they had been baked. Not enough smoke flavor for me had good smoke coloring though. It's expensive for 2 people we spent around $40! With no drinks and no desserts.

I went there last week and the cashier was having an attitude. Yesterday after work I stopped by there to order carry out . One of the cashier went to the counter where they serve you your order and for carry out orders they open the container first to show your order before giving it to you , Well I was observing , from cash handling, did not wash her hands , she was not wearing gloves while opening the container with food for showing the customers order. When my order was called and she was about to open the container, I told her she should wear gloves because she's handling the food. Well , she asked the other person to do it and went back to the register without saying anything. My other pulled pork sandwich was not properly prepped . Did not bother to say something. The other person was'nt even smiling at all. When this mission barbeque first opened and after few weeks , workers there were friendly and know what their doing. Based on my bad experience yesterday , I should have not bothered to get my food there.

The "Applebee's" of BBQ restaurants has arrived in the D.C. area. It's okay but regardless of the raving reviews, this is NOT "barbecue". While a menu of nine different liquid smoke-flavored steamed meats seems impressive, the thin flavoring does not come close to satisfying the craving appetite for real smoked or charcoal cooked barbecue. The sides and many sauces are very average --- does not taste like they are made from scratch on-site. Sure the kids will love it but for those who take issue with those establishments who call themselves a "barbecue" restaurant, without any charcoal or wood-fire smoking on the premises, this is no better than 3 stars.

Let me start off by saying I LOVE Mission BBQ! From their food to their whole program, they are amazing. The ONLY reason I'm giving a 1 star is to express my distress toward a particular interaction with a particular person. She stated she was from the "Springfield location" and this is the closest I found, so hopefully its the right location. This past Friday, my supervisor had ordered food from Mission to be delivered for a bunch of us (I'm active duty Navy). She had stated that the food was coming soon, but hadn't stated what it would be. When I saw the lady rolling in the Mission, I was immediately let down (because I'm on a very specific diet for weight loss right now, so I already had my lunch prepared, but I LOVE Mission BBQ). After setting up the food, and everyone getting their plates, the lady asked me "you're not getting a plate, young lady?" Innocent enough, so I simply stated that I can't because I'm on a diet, and assumed it would be left at that. However, she then goes on to accuse me of not liking Mission BBQ. I stated that I do like it. But, it continued. She even started stating that "oh, I pissed her off" several times, wgich I found extremely unprofessional. She asked everyone in the room where they were from, including me, and she stated "oh, you're from Texas, so you don't like Mission BBQ?" At this point, I started to get really upset, so I just got quiet and started looking at my phone. She asked who all goes to Mission BBQ, and the majority of the people in the room raised their hand (including myself), and again, she singled me out stating "even you've been?!?" In the time she was there, there were at least 2 other instances. At the end, she was handing everyone a voucher for a free sandwich. She was standing right at my desk, and stated "well I'm not going to give her one, because she doesn't even like Mission BBQ" (but she handed my coworker--who is vegan- one with no issues). At this point, my Chief stepped in and stated "give her one, she stated already that she likes it, she's just on a diet right now". She was like "well, okay.." and reluctantly handed me a card... while asking me AGAIN why I didn't eat. At this point I stated "I'm on a diet. I'm overweight, okay???" (I don't often feel the need to tell strangers about my personal life). I was SO HUMILIATED. I don't know what I did to deserve this kind of harassment in my own workspace. I even thought maybe I was overreacting in my head, but after she left, 5 different people in the room asked me why she was being like that to me, and stated she was annoying, and a few other comments. I actually went in the bathroom and shed a few tears from embarrassment. Apparently she's the person who always does these type of events, so I just hope she gets talked to so no one else has to...

My husband and I walked in on a Saturday evening to what seemed like a mass gathering of teenagers in the tricounty area. The whole place was PACKED, which I’ve never seen happen at this Mission BBQ (not because they’re not excellent, but because there usually aren’t approx. 200 people here all at the same time). Nevertheless, the trusty, cheery staff who took our orders greeted us with the signature Mission BBQ ā€œhi folks!ā€ and treated us with utmost professionalism. You just cannot get that at any other fast-casual dining chain. I was between the baby back ribs (five stars, my go to) and the new Black Plate Special, smoked strip steak. They were out of the first option (literally never seen them out of anything before, but these were extenuating circumstances), so I decided to take that a sign to get the BPS. I was not sure if it was a lean/moist steak, but I trusted the pit master to work his usual magic on this piece of meat. Despite the unforeseen mass gathering of middle schoolers, the food came out in 3 minutes, thanks to the excellently trained staff. I was told the steak was smoked and seared, so I worried that it’d be too dry for me. Personally, I think that cooking a strip steak over medium is sacrilegious - I was WRONG. The steak came out, freshly seared on both sides, with a healthy dollop of salt and pepper butter on it. WOW. If they smoked an ostrich (notoriously foul tasting bird) and coated it in that butter, I would put it on the Thanksgiving table. I don’t know what kind of magic they do to it, but it is SO GOOD. As for the steak, it was cooked well done, but it was so juicy and flavourful. Not dry at all!!!!!!!! If you happen to go and they still have the steak, I strongly recommend that you get that. My husband who ordered the cheeseburger sat next to me entranced by this piece of strip steak. While his burger was good, I don’t think it compared to this steak. It’s a little difficult to feel passionate about this country at this particular moment in history. It’s been a difficult week for us with everything going on. But this steak, the hardworking people here, and the pictures of local heros decorating the walls reminded me what this country’s about again. We’re not going anywhere!!!!! We’ll fight for what’s right in our respective places. Mission BBQ will feed and nourish us while we do. THANK YOU MISSION BBQ! P.s. We also got free blueberry cobblers. They’re excellent, just like everything else on their menu. Very sweet, but just tangy enough so you don’t get sick of it. I...

Amazing experience! Truly one of the best customer services I’ve ever had.

So, I recently went to take my family out to eat. We had passed by the big military vehicle out front but never actually entered the restaurant. We were confused to find out that they had more of a chipotle (order up front) kind of system instead of sit down with a menu in your hands.

So when we arrived, I told the cashier that it was our first time and didn’t really know how to order. She was very generous and went through the ENTIRE menu. She went through every little detail we could possibly think of and even walked us through the process of how to order and what she recommended. The process itself was extremely quick and easy. After 5 minutes, our food was already done! There, Ms. Theresa, the lady who delivers your food up front was extremely friendly and sparked a genuine conversation with us, which was much appreciated.

The food itself was great! I’m not fond of pork, so I got the pulled chicken sandwich with fries and Mac n’ cheese. The fries were average, but the Mac n’ cheese was to die for. I even went to go get another side of it. I also tried the baked beans which weren’t bad at all seeing as I’m not into American beans. Then Ms. Theresa arrived to our table to check up on us and gave us some of their delicious pudding. Now, I’m not much for puddings or sweets, but the banana pudding was delicious and should be sampled if you come here .

As we were about to leave, I gave some tip the the helpful cashier, and then to Ms. Theresa but she refused! I insisted and insisted but she wouldn’t take and instead told me to give the tip to the cashier. I also work in the food industry and was just so amazed to find someone as caring and as well fit to attend to people. Staff was great, food was great, service and environment was great!...
