Leaving the military was the scariest and most overwhelming time of my life. I remember getting hired for my first job and stopping to grab a cup of coffee on my way. Sensing that I was new and nervous, the barista made sure I felt welcomed and gave me her full attention. She asked how my day was, and I told her, “Not sure yet, it’s my first day of work.” She smiled and said, “Well, every day gets better with a cup of coffee, so you’re off to the right start.” It was simple and honest. She could have said it to any customer, but it made a huge difference to me that day.
“Coffee In” is truly one of the best coffee shops I’ve visited in a long time. Now that I live in Richmond, VA, I find myself comparing every coffee shop I visit to them, but no one quite matches up.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting. They opened in April of 2023, and I remember meeting Alex and Gulai, who were both so passionate and proud of their work. Every time I walked in, they remembered my face and my order. I miss their coffee and service so much. If you’re new to NOVA or craving some good Turkish coffee, make sure to stop here. I promise it will become your new go-to...
Read moreWent a few times as they are conveniently located. If you are a coffee drinker(unlike myself), this is the place for you! My husband insists their Turkish coffee is the best he's had outside of Turkey! Never had bad service there. The presumed owner seems delightful. They are very quick as well. Personally stuck to their matchas and they seem pretty tasty. Very unusual for a coffee shop to focus their non-coffee options on matcha.
However, I wish they would expand their tea/non coffee options. They seem to mainly focus on matcha but I would love to see tea lattes included or expanding their chai. When I inquired about their non coffee options, I was informed they can make me decaf lattes. This kinda confirmed that they don't really have them. I also wish they would add some gluten free options to the menu.
I do recommend coming here. Note it's more of a coffee shop than comes up on Google. Also seating is minimal. Perfect for a chat with a friend though and supposedly some of the best coffee...
Read moreI was really confused by the name until I walked in and saw the fantastically huge coffee menu with varieties of coffee styles that you would find around the world. So you can feel like you're having your Coffee In...whatever country. The drinks are unique because of their different preparation styles, not just because they have different combos of flavorings and syrup. So if you want to become a connoisseur of coffee, this may be a good place to start. There is a printed menu that explains the drinks but the baristas seemed disposed to answer questions as well.
5 stars with the caveat that it's not a lounge around for hours or set up and study kind of place. It's just too small for that. That's okay, not all coffee shops need to be that.
I told my friend that we'll have to go back 100 times to try everything, probably starting with the Turkish coffee.
Didn't get breakfast, but...
