Being a former Marine in San Diego and spending about 35 years in Las Vegas Nv I've been accustomed to amazing Mexican food. Used to go to Tijuana and eat at Tacos El Gordo and go to the new one in Las Vegas alot. Was having a hard time finding Mexican food like I'm used to in my home state of Missouri and was recommended the Purple Burrito in Springfield and some I was in Spgfld I decided to stop and try it. Turns out the owner used to work for Robertos in Las Vegas (which is one of the big Mexican food restaurants in Las Vegas) and he moved to Missouri about 10 years ago. I had the AL Pastor tacos. I was hoping for street tacos with the 2 small corn tortillas but they only do that 1 day a week. Instead they had 1 large corn tortilla but the rest was the same with al pastor, cebolla, and cilantro. It tasted exactly the same but without the 2 small tortillas. I gotta say the pastor was BETTER than what I'm used to in Vegas!

Also had a refried bean and cheese burrito which was good but they didn't use the same cheese I'm used to and wasn't as salty. Still a great burrito!!

Customer service was amazing Food was traditional Mexican not like a Midwest hamburger meat taco, prices were good and there restaurant was clean, cool, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Me and my wife will be life long customers when we are out this way.

Thank you for a...

Excellent burritos and tacos but the same problem as their other location is the salsa is not very good. They need to travel to Texas or New Mexico. The gas station stripes with the Laredo taco company has such better salsa. I am betting the salsa you serve is not what you eat at home on your own food. It's either green and slimy with no taste and a mild heat or it is red and tasted like tomato sauce with little flavor. You should really experiment with the salsas but we will be back and just bring our own salsa. The food is freaking awesome! Staff is very friendly and helpful and the place was very clean. Food was cooked fresh and was served hot!

EDIT since returning several more times. This place is phenomenal about 75% of the time, once the oil that they did the fries in was long overdue for being changed and today the hot sauce was extremely sweet and tasted like it had been diluted with bbq sauce, gross doesn't quite say it. The California burrito was cold as well and cheese wasn't even melted. Again still a good place but every 1out 4...

I have been going to purple burrito for almost 3 years. I have become a regular. Today I went and ordered my usual tacos got to work and they were horrible. I had to throw them away I called purple burrito and told them how bad they were and I was told we'll bring them back will make you new ones. I told them I am at work and my lunch hour is over and I cannot bring them back but I have a receipt and would like to be able to come in and get some next time. The woman on the phone was extremely rude and said no we won't give you a refund unless you bring the food back. I told her I cannot bring the food back I am at work. Her response was sorry we can't help you. I have been going there for a long long time and also when I was in San Diego I went when they were Roberto's. After the way I was treated today I will not...

We really liked Purple Burrito back when it was on National. Their beans are still phenomenal, but the rest of the food was bleh. Not with what we paid for it. The taco shell my daughter had was like one you buy pre-formed at a grocery store, and none of the cheese was melted on anything. It was very bland, really. This was the first time eating at this location. We were on our way to our dentist appointments, and just as we were getting ready to leave, the supply truck pulled up. We were able to get out once the car next us was able to get out, but it still stressed me out. I thought it strange the supply truck would come in the middle of the lunch rush. So beware, don't park on that side of the building in the middle of the day.

I really wanted to love this place. Cool decor, fun name. It was just ... eh. I will say, I'm docking a star because the machine asked me for a tip when I ordered. I ordered at a counter, 17 mins (yup) later our 2 dishes were ready so they called our number and I went to the counter to get it. Just like I do at McDonalds. Love tipping, fully support it, but that's too much. 0 service involved other than poking my request in the machine. The food wasn't bad - it just wasn't interesting in any way. We had a burrito and taquitos. Fresher than Taco Bell, but not much. Sorry to say we likely won't be back. There are too many better options :(
