Hinckley Cafe — Restaurant in Squaw Grove Township

Went here for breakfast with wife and kids. Service was good and food was average. We ordered crispy bacon but needed to send it back to get it crispy. We had an omelette, French toast, apple cinnamon crepes, coffee. Based on the above I would have given this restaurant a 3 star review. However, after I paid my bill with my credit card I noticed a surcharge for using my credit card. I asked why wasn't I notified of the surcharge and someone whom I assume is the owner pointed to a credit card sized notice on their door and on the cash register. I said that really is not proper notice and most businesses put up tent cards at the table or in large lettering on their menus so people are informed. Been going here several years and mostly good service until today, ordered a breakfast plate and asked to substitute the smoked sausage for bacon like I’ve done 50 times before but food came with the smoked sausage , anyway no big deal Rubens lovely little daughter brought me a plate of the bacon I originally asked for but I was charged $4,50 for the bacon, when I asked her about that at checkout time she said she asked but I was getting charged for it anyway, here’s my thing, I spend around $200.00 dollars in this cafe a week but I got up charged for a side that was always substituted for me prior to that, so all I can say is keep your customers happy and they keep coming back, if no they...

The Hinkley Cafe is a great spot for breakfast dates, be it family or friends! The coffee is hot and fresh, skillets are second to none and we are continuously please by the service and cleanliness of this diner. Of all of the places we have visited in search of our go-to spot for breakfast, Hinkley is hands-down the cafe to go. I absolutely love the decor, too. Save your searching and just come in. This is the first cafe that the owner has come out to check on us as well.
