Johnnie's Bar, on Route 66 in St. James, Missouri "offers a heaping helping of atmosphere, history, character and good service." The landmark neon "Stag" sign above the door hints at the true stories, legends, and tall tales inside. Mother Road historians and "roadies" will recognize this as the former location of Rose's Cafe that opened in 1929. John Bullock purchased the cafe in 1960 and transformed it into the beloved tavern that we know today. Johnnie passed away in 2004 but his son, Russ, keeps the bar pretty much the same as it was over 50 years ago. The valuable arrowheads and antiques have been moved to a secure location but there is still so much to see inside that you will notice something different on each visit. The beer is still is served COLD and the food will have your taste buds thanking you. Johnnie's Bar is a "can't miss" roadhouse that every Route 66'er should add to their...

Interesting things to read on the walls about the history, as well as an arrowhead collection and even an old...

It isn’t fancy, but it is clean and safe. All this and the bonus Route...
