The Olive Cafe LLC — Restaurant in St. John

I give this place zero stars and warn any person of color that you are not welcomed there. I went to this place with a group of friends for brunch because we hadn't seen each other in some time. We arrived at 1114am and placed our order about 10 mins after our arrival. Granted we were a bit chatted but nothing rude or out of hand considering our ages ranged from 42 to 75. It was four of us all female 2 black and 2 white. As I stated we placed our orders about ten minutes after we got there but for some reason we watched about five groups of people, parties ranging from groups of 6 to 2 come in well after we ordered. They came they ordered they ate they left. An hour later still no food. We asked the waitress why we haven't received or food she said she would go check but when she went behind the counter she said we would receive our food whenever it comes up. We complained and we even asked the other waitress what's going on as there were only the 2 of them and got no answer. Now we coming up on 1.5 hours later we finally told them we no longer wanted the food and magically here it comes. We refused the food but the only reason we sat there so long is because we were getting caught up with one another and trying to think positive about the situation. After noticing that every person that came through the door was white and received service while we sat there receiving none it was clear that it was our color that stopped us from getting our food. No explanation no apology nothing from the manager nor the wait staff. 10 out of 10 stay far away from this place or you may receive something indescribable in your food. So, after driving by this unassuming place numerous times and never knowing what I was missing I finally stepped in one day for a food pick-up and delivery. The food made my car smell delicious and was ready for the customers super quick. I did a few more deliveries from here and when my parents came up to visit for the holidays there was only 1 place I wanted to go eat with them, and it was the Olive Cafe. Let me just say it didn't disappoint. We were able to walk in, sit down and had our coffee and water in minutes. The lady who runs the front of the house is amazing, ultra friendly and attentive to detail. Our food was perfect and came out quick and hot. The prices are fair and you get tons of food, we all had food to take home. That is except for my father who is a food wrecking machine. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone who wants to try something different then the standard chain places in the area. 11 out of 10 for sure. I went there at lunch during the week day and ordered the Hoosier breakfast. I've never been to a place that when you order biscuits and gravy you only get one biscuit - that's what it comes with. I could live with that though because it was pretty good. The bacon was sliced thin as a razor-blade and it was cooked so overdone that when I picked it up it shattered into pieces. That by itself I could live with also. The thing that put it over the top was the waitress with the compression sleeves that, when I gave her my order she didn't bother to ask how I wanted my eggs done - I had to stop her as she walked away; most places keep the coffee topped off (or at least ask you if you want more) - she didn't come around. In fact, the other woman that was mopping the floors came by more often than my waitress and I overheard her tell my waitress to be sure to ask if I wanted more coffee because my cup was low. Even after my waitress was told that, she didn't come around for close to 5 more minutes. Crazy thing was, I was one of two customers in the place the entire time.
