FOLLOW UP: I believe in second chances, and in giving someone the opportunity to "make it right." The folks at Schillings ultimately got it right, and in an over the top manner. They made a concerted effort to rectify a mistake, and in doing so they proved to me that their goal is truly Customer Service. When they discovered that my order was not actually placed, not only did they follow up in getting the order placed, but expediting it as well. They delivered the doors and sidelites, and then went beyond curbside service, taking the unit around to the back of my home where the renovations were taking place, and did me one better. My carpenter was the only one on the site at the time of delivery, and for him to muscle the 9' long unit into the rough opening by himself, well, that just was not going to happen. I don't know how it came about, but in a flash, four Schilling employees where there, don't know where they all came from, but happy to see them. In just a matter of a few minutes, the unit was positioned in the rough so it did not have to lean against the addition until the following week, and a good thing with all the rain we have been having lately. That gesture by Schilling was greatly appreciated. Finally, Brad, the Schilling employee I had been working with on this order as well as an Andersen window order, which by the way went smoothly, spent a great deal of time with me after delivery, and recapped how the order had fallen through the cracks, and the changes that were made to ensure no none else would experience this sort of issue. It was obvious that Brad was indeed regretful that things went askew. My faith in Schilling has been restored!
Scroll down and read the review by Stephen Pitt. Same experience here. I purchased Therma Tru double french patio doors, and vented sidelites, and paid for them on 07/24/2016. I sat in the Schilling store for nearly 2 hours and went over the configuration with a Sales Rep. at his desk. Two weeks later I get a call and an apology, the configuration I asked for is not possible. Two weeks to figure this out? OK, nothing I can do about it now but place another order, so giving them the benefit of the doubt, I did just that. I was assured that due to the mistake, which no one wants to accept responsibility for, the order would be expedited and figure 3-3 1/2 weeks. I wait patiently while my builder is climbing up and down my back asking where the hell the doors are. The room has had the door and sidelite opening roughed in now for two months. Yesterday, 09/27/2016, I get a call from Schilling. One of those are you sitting down type phone calls. I am told the order was not placed. Un f'ing believable. The roughed in door and sidelite opening to the uncompleted addition is now boarded and closed like some Cabrini Green housing project. I am responsible for interest since paying for the purchase with my Credit Card over two months ago, the weather is turning and I have an incomplete addition, and now waiting who knows how long for the doors and sidelites, which incidentally Therma Tru told me that their distributors typically have all the parts needed to put together a door/sidelite configuration, usually within 3 weeks. I called and spoke to the Business Manager, Kyle, and he assured me he would look into it and that he would call me back in 15 minutes, that was 26 hours ago. He never called me back. The large addition put on my house in 1998 was done so using all materials from Schilling Lumber....
Read moreI WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING SCHILLINGS FOR ANY SERVICES. WORK IS SUBCONTRACTED OUT. TAKE NOTICE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF BAD REVIEWS, THEY ARE 100% ACCURATE. THIS BUSINESS IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNETHICAL.
Absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. They do not honor the prices advertised at their store in St John. They subcontracted our order without telling us. They refused to uninstall our old counter tops even though we paid for that service.
We hired Schillings to install quartz counter tops in our kitchen. While visiting the location in St John, IN, my girlfriend and I came across a counter top display that had a price tag on it. Dan Johnston, the Schilling's associate who "helped" us, explained that the price advertised was actually incorrect. He said the current US/ China tariffs had driven quartz prices up. This should have been the first and only indicator to stay away but unfortunately we proceeded. After making all of our selections, Dan Johnston, said he would email us the final quote with the current cost of the quartz. We went over, in depth, our questions concerns and made it very clear that we would need the existing counter tops removed. Dan assured us that our final quote would include the removal of the existing counter tops. 5 days went by, we sent a couple of emails attempting to follow up and finally received a "I'm sorry I must have overlooked the email" We ultimately had to reach out to another sales associate who knew little to nothing about what we had discussed with Dan. This process was aggravating and time consuming.
Our final measurement appointment was entered incorrectly the first time we attempted to schedule which prolonged our installation date.
Finally, on the day of our installation (today) a different company arrived to do the work. I received a phone call from my girlfriend explaining that the company who was on site said that they could not take any of the existing counter tops off as they did not have it listed on their order. They told her that if we could not arrange to have someone come and uninstall the counter tops in a short period of time, we would have to reschedule the install appointment. She offered to call in a payment over the phone for the removal of the old counter tops and was told that was not an option. I called Schillings hoping they would be able to offer some sort of solution but instead was hung up on by Dan Johnston and promised a call back by his supervisor Lori. No call back. Because my girlfriend had already taken a day off of work and I could not make it back home in time to do it myself, she uninstalled the counter tops herself as 4 men sat there and watched her.
Schillings should be ashamed of the quality of their services on all levels. Dan Johnston is the most unprofessional, unethical sales associate I have ever dealt with. Dan belongs on a used car lot or perhaps selling TV's to the blind. I cannot comment on the quality of their actual craftsmanship because they subcontract their work out. I truly hope that any and all potential customers take the time to read this post and save themselves the headache, time and...

I started rehabbing a house in 2017 and spared no expense as I was looking to have the least maintenance in the future. I spent well over a 100 grand on windows framing lumber sheathing zipboard doors siding fixtures trim decking railings and so much more. I purchased LP siding in late 2018 and was installed into early 2019. I paid extra to have the siding double coated which was presented as a 50 year warranty. Within a couple of years I noticed the siding chalking and the trim opening up like a sponge. In early 2022 I presented this issue to Scott Czapar who was my salesperson that I had been dealing with since day one. Schillings had purchased the LP siding from Cedar Siding INC which has since gone out of business. I spoke to both Scott and Kyle who brought this to the attention of Dean Schillings. I paid 7500 dollars in labor and 1500 in materials to have my house repainted. I was asking Schillings to cover half the cost of materials which was 750 dollars in which they denied. They suggested that the warranty was from the company they bought the siding from. I bought the siding from Schillings not anywhere else. I will not spend 10 cents at their company ever again. Scott Czapar has never been the issue and has always gone above and beyond to address the many issues that came about. Also anyone reading this please go out and look at your siding and see if it has failed! I can guarantee that I am not the only person this has happened to. Below are the before and after photos and so obvious of the failure of their product.
UPDATE:
Great I will bring all my receipts from Sherwin Williams in today so I can be compensated for all the paint purchased. I paid 7500 out of pocket in labor to have my house repainted. I didnât ask for any compensation for that. And ask yourself the offer that was made was to be supplied paint from the same manufacturer of the paint that failed. Gee I think I will pay the labor using the same garbage that failed. You were aware long before the siding failed at my house that there was an issue with Cedar Siding inc. Also to clarify PP&G is the manufacturer of both the paint and the machine that applies the paint. They are the ones who offered to supply the paint not Schillings. Schillings...
