I don't like this place at all, I LOVE it with all my being. It's so cozy and nice with two sections to accommodate both the laptop worker and the breakfast grabber. The owners are the only two staff and have worked out a system that not only makes life easier on them, but accentuates their hospitality. Everything on the menu has been a home run and the coffee just helps bring the whole meal together. Everytime we come here we end up in some small banter with one of the owners and he takes the time every time, to make sure that we are well taken care of and that everything is beyond our expectations. On top of their commitment to both the community and their business, it is a place that has only one fault in the fact that it's only open until two. Now normally this would be a detriment, but the fact that i see these two tireless owners day in and day out makes for quite some leniency. The love they have for their restaurant is evident in everything they do.
They have mugs that people bring them from around the world in their travels. Who brings their breakfast and brunch place a mug that they found when they were on vacation? Who thinks about their regular food haunts when they are out and about? The fact that they are o the minds of the customers even when they are not currently there shows the power that two people can have when they put their minds on creating something special. 2Shae's Cafe is one of those places that makes you want to be a regular and upset if it is out of the way. These people create great food for good prices and do it it such a genuine way that it calls you back time and time again. Simply simplicity...
Read moreThe prices are ok as well as the food. We were handed menus and told that we could sit at either of the two back tables and come up to order when we are ready. Why we couldn't sit at the front two tables, I dont know. Oh by the way, there was a gentleman sitting in one of the front tables by himself...which is why I'm confused as to why we couldn't sit there..We sat looked at the menu, ordered at the counter and grabbed our waters. I do like the fact that they recycle and dont give people a chance to be wasteful; but I ordered a flatbread that had way too many toppings on it and was a tad messy with only one napkin. My friend received her side of eggs for her sandwich before she received her sandwich (which made no sense). We were asked once how everything was but the server didnt stick around long enough to hear our answer. Another one walked pass us twice to ask the table in the corner how their food was but did not stop by our table again. I asked for a box when she walked by again she said, "yea sure." She returned with a bag and some aluminum foil. That's not what I asked for. Before you ask, yes they do have boxes I was staring right at one that was given to another table. I watched the girl at the other table take her leftovers and place them in a box with my own two eyes so please dont speak on things that you were not there to witness. The service to me was just not up to par for such a small place. I dont think I will...
Read moreI am going to be very honest about this, so bare with me.
PROs: Clean, welcoming environment Good food at relatively good prices Nice place to study or meet Outdoor seating (weather permitting) which is great if you're avoiding indoor dining Hardworking staff, very kind owners
CONs The biggest one has got to be the pro-police paraphernalia, T-shirts, "blue lives matter" stuff. It also seems to be a regular police hideout. The cafe is located very close to the infamous "Delmar divide," so there's tension in the air around here surrounding the police. The owners seem to be very pro-police, which can be problematic with the nature of the relationship the people here have with the police They only hire their own family members as staff It seems the owners regularly go on vacation, leaving the cafe closed randomly for up to a few weeks. Maybe if they hired more outside staff, they wouldn't have to do this. Wait times- sometimes, there are extremely long wait times for food; they are a relatively small team of employees (sometimes only the owners), so I do understand this. But maybe branching out and hiring some community members might help
Although there are some definite cons, the food here is good and the owners are extremely friendly. Just some logistical issues, and the divisive nature of the "blue...
