Warning! Never order food from Chicago Fish Chicken Grill (3609 Cass Avenue). Very unsanitary.

I ordered catfish nuggets, party wings, and fries this afternoon for lunch. While waiting on my order, I overheard a lady customer yelling at a Hispanic male cook about eating from someone’s food and then placing it back into someone’s order. I got up and asked the lady customer to repeat herself.

She said, “I saw him eating from someone’s fries and then place the same fries back into someone’s order.”

The lady customer pointed to an order of catfish nuggets and fries. I asked the Indian lady who was operating the cash register if that order belong to me, she said it did. The Indian lady explained that the Hispanic guy was only testing to see if the fries were fully cooked. The lady customer confronted her by asking, “How many fries does it take to check if they’re done? I saw him eat several fries and then place them back into someone’s order.”

The Hispanic cook walked away towards the back and started saying something in Spanish. I asked him to speak up and repeat himself in English, he didn’t. I told the Indian lady I wanted a new order of fries and then asked to speak to the manager. She said the manager wouldn’t be in until later and that the same Hispanic guy who had ate fries from my order was the assistant manager.

I watched him cook a new order of fries. No one apologized for the inconvenience. No one apologized for the unsanitary behavior of the cook. I will never order food from this...

I only went to this place because my aunt said the food was really delicious and that’s what she had a taste for so I was willing to try it out so I couldn’t really decide what I wanted because they had so many choices of food but when I got my food, the fries were not fresh. They were hard. So what I did was, I went ahead and I took them back and I let them know that I wanted fresh french fries so the lady took the fries back and when she brought them back to the table, they were the same fries hard and not fresh at all so at this point, I got pissed I said, sir can you please give me a order of fresh fries so when he took the fries back again he look like he had an attitude so versus me even dealing with the situation. I just said don’t even worry about the fries. I’ll just keep the sandwich so that’s what I did. I kept the sandwich and I didn’t get the fries because they were truly not fresh I could’ve stabbed someone in her face with the fries. They were so hard so I will not be going back here because the service was horrible. The food was disgusting And I just...

I have been to this location two or three times and the first couple of visits were okay maybe even good, but this Last visit oh, I realized that the catfish fillets here absolutely amazing. After getting my order I drove home which took about 12 minutes and then change clothes another 4-5 minutes... and then I sat down to eat my fish and it was still hot oh, the fries not so much but the fish was absolutely perfect. Perfectly seasoned and breaded oh, flaky, moist, and it wasn't greasy. Now I want to make a note that this place gets cakes from a vendor in the city who makes the best cakes. I've had the strawberry the lemon and the caramel. The strawberry and lemon have a whipped cream frosting. And the caramel cake will you know its top with caramel. The last time I visited I think I also saw German chocolate I'm going to have to give that a try oh, but whoever makes their cakes and they do have their phone number and name on their cakes...
