Never set foot in this establishment, and hope I never have to for the rest of my life. The team in the seating department stole money from me after strong-arming into tickets and seats I didn't want. Avery, or whatever your name is (you know who you are), took a large amount of money ($500+) without giving me the heads up about it. The jokers in customer service don't have the first clue what they're doing when it comes to refunds. I have 20 or so tickets to this God-Aweful place and I'm tempted to burn these tickets! I don't plan on it because Powell Hall is holding my money hostage until I return these stupid pieces of paper.
So far, Powell Hall, I'm very upset if you couldn't already tell. On top of all that, the money that was stolen from me prevented a trip to visit my family out of state. So thanks for ruining my vacation. I expect an apology to myself and to my family for this disaster.
To Management: You've failed to train your staff adequately, and have poor guidelines for connecting business. I hope you holidays are much better than mine cause I'm stuck HERE leaving this nasty review instead of enjoying time with my family. This Thanksgiving was completely trashed because of your employees crappy decisions.
I can't wait to hear back from someone in management or an owner of the business about this lovely review. Thanks Sincerely,
-- Andrew. The guy who is mad over the holidays because of Avery and Powell Hall.
PS. Avery: I hope you are having a wonderful holiday time, cause I for sure am not.
As the kids would...
Read moreFirst time visiting here after only living in the area for a few years. We've been wanting to come for awhile but finally made it for this holiday season. Purchasing tickets online was a breeze and we got a voicemail and email a few days before to let us know that masks and Covid vaccinations were required which was a great reminder. We came early, parked right next to the building and got in with no wait. Our seats had plenty of legroom and were very comfortable. The holiday decor was stunning and we were thoroughly impressed by the symphony. They even played a few more obscure classical pieces that I played years ago and still have the sheet music for so that was wonderful to hear again. The only downfall was that we had 3 different families sit in the two rows in front of us that brought very small children under the age of 5. They were a major distraction to us as they would not sit still and kept climbing back and forth across empty seats in front of us and making a lot of noise. Personally we never brought our young kids to anything like that when they were younger because we didn't want to bother other people. Sad that not everyone is as considerate. Other than that, we really had a wonderful time and are looking forward to coming back...
Read moreI kind of grew up at Powell. I experienced as a child when my elementary school would take students for concerts. While in high school I sang Handel's Messiah and other choral works as a member of the SLPS Festival Chorus. I attended concerts of various artists who came to town. My piano teacher took a group of students to hear Andre Watts and other pianists. I admired from a distance the members of the orchestra. Saw them at concerts, recitals, workshops and classes around town. All of this was inspired by being exposed to them at Powell Hall. As an adult I sang a few years as a member of the In Unison Chorus. I enjoyed the experience and continued to purchase annual SLSO subscriptions when I could afford them. So this last visit was like coming home. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The orchestra members were younger and there were few or no faces that I remembered, but the energy and passion for music that I remembered over the years was definitely still there. Most of all, my experience felt warm, inviting and comfortable. Thank you for maintaining that for me...
