Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience at Mack’s Bar and Grill
This was my 3rd time visiting Mack’s Bar and Grill, including this past Wednesday for karaoke with my lady. While my previous 2 visits were pleasant, this past experience was appalling and left us feeling disrespected and embarrassed.
The evening started well, but things went downhill when I went to retrieve my card from the bartender, Rose. After preparing my drink, she didn’t return my card, and rather than disrupt her as she talked with others, I returned to my table, expecting to retrieve it later and/or being it to the table as she was busy talking. However, she knew I was at the table with my lady who she apparently is familiar with because she frequent the place often on Wednesdays. At the end of the night, when I politely went back to the bar and asked for my card, her behavior was nothing short of unprofessional.
She dismissed my request with rude remarks, saying it wasn’t her responsibility to ensure I got my card, “It’s just a card, not a bank,” and that she had no idea what I had done with it. I had better look in my pocket, to its stuck in the cooler” Her tone was condescending, loud, and completely inappropriate, drawing unnecessary attention from other patrons.
The situation escalated further after another bartender retrieved my card. Rose made an unprofessional and offensive comment to my lady, stating, “You better get your man because he has me effed up.” I’m a 50+ year-old man who avoids drama and confusion, and this behavior was beyond shocking. My lady, who regularly supports this business, was equally appalled and embarrassed.
As a professional and a business owner myself, I expect more from any establishment I choose to support. Respect, professionalism, and accountability are the cornerstones of good customer service. Allowing employees to behave in such a rude and disrespectful manner not only tarnishes the reputation of the business but also alienates loyal patrons.
It was clear that this bartender had been drinking, as she couldn’t control her emotions or maintain basic professionalism. It’s unacceptable for staff to act this way in a customer-facing role, especially in an establishment that relies on patronage.
I left a message with Sammy to report the incident, but no one has contacted me to address this matter. For a business that I’ve supported and encouraged others to visit, this experience was not only disappointing but completely unacceptable.
As customers, we don’t expect perfection, but we do expect respect and professionalism. This behavior left us no choice but to reevaluate our support for this establishment. If management cannot address such issues or hold staff accountable, they risk losing loyal patrons. Sadly, after this incident, I don’t see myself returning to Mack’s Bar and...
Read moreI used to frequent this Bar and Grill and I would always bring a new person with me when I would come. I love the food and I used to love the atmosphere until yesterday. The waiter whose name is Dave on the receipt brought out half of the party's food. He didn't Express a wait time for the other food. He began to help someone at the ATM and take orders. Half of the party was finished eating. Those of us who did not have food were wondering when it would be coming out. I went to the bar and said to Dave, "just checking on the food" he said it would be right out and I sat down. He brought my food. The other person was still waiting. Another guy working there in a red shirt came up to me and said " he said you were complaining about the food. It only took 14 minutes. I timed it."
The first part of my complaint is that I never complained. Dave took it upon himself to lie on me; for what reason I am not sure.
The second part is that the other person working there didn't even apologize for the wait time, but instead wanted to let me know that he clocked the time. I could dive so much deeper into how unprofessional this was and how poor quality the customer service was. I think I have said enough to get the point across. I will no longer be coming to this establishment and I will no longer refer anyone there. I am a local artist who performs. One of the people with me was a comedian who had recently performed there. When I received my change I noticed that they took my order off (I was paying for two people). That was not enough for me to not leave a review. I sat there quietly until I asked about the food. I did not come there rude. I was not rude to the waiter. I referred people. I was paying for more than one person.
I won't subject anyone else to lies and poor...
Read moreSo, this is such a difficult review to write. Everyone loves this restaurant and gives it a 5 star and here I am giving one of the worst reviews I've ever given.
Maybe my expectations were too high. Maybe I read to many great reviews. Or, maybe we just had a bad experience.
My wife, I, and 3 of our kids stopped by for dinner. We are from about 4 hours North and visiting Saint Louis. It was a Thursday night around 8:00 p.m. and the restaurant was a little less than half full. There were 2 waiters serving the guests. For some reason the appetizer came out with the entrees instead of before. the drinks spent almost half the time empty. One daughter thought her loaded nachos were less than average. My son's cheese pizza was very basic and bland. My wife's Burger was just a run of the mill Burger. My chicken wrap was super burnt on the bottom, so much so that I'm actually surprised that the kitchen would even send it to a table. I politely asked for them to make me another less done. It arrived about 15 minutes later with the bill. The rest of the family had already finished.
Was it catastrophic? Nope. Was it a let down after signing the $100 receipt?...
