After making the trek home from work, I was greeted with a sparkling clean apartment. Not just my usual tidy, but clean enough to make Mary Poppins proud. I have to give credit where credit is due, so a big thanks to the parental unit for their surprise visit from their far away land. As we marveled at the spotless digs, one of them suggested we hit up a brewery for some brewskis.
Spotting a brewery down the road that I had never noticed before while biking along the Grants trail, we made our way to Perennial Artisan Ales. Housed in what looked like a converted warehouse, the exterior screamed industrial chic, complete with tables and fake grass. We were greeted by a friendly bartender and settled in at a table with some beer menus.
After much deliberation, we settled on a Peach Berlinerweiss, a Pegasus Bay (Hazey IPA), and a Good Mister Postman (American Lager). With drinks in hand, we snagged a new table with a perfect view of the big TV showcasing a Rugby game. As the suds flowed, we kicked back and enjoyed the game.
Each beer was a hit with its drinker, prompting a round two and the second half of the Rugby match. After the game ended, we bid adieu to the brewery, having spent a delightful afternoon there. Perennial Artisan Ales proved to be a gem of a spot to while away a few hours – tasty brews, friendly staff, and clean bathrooms sealed the deal. I'll definitely be back with a growler in tow next time I swing by. Cheers to good beer and even...
Read moreWe really enjoy visiting microbreweries and tasting different interpretations on my favorite styles. If you're a beer drinker you can taste the nuances and inspiration of the brewmaster, huh, I suppose you can even if you're not, sorry sidetracked. My favorites for tasting are stouts and porters, in my mind they are meant to be savored much like a good whiskey. I'm not going to sit and throw back a few, I simply want to taste it, so a 5oz pour is more than enough, also the abv is usually much higher. All of that said, put this place on your list and go. The staff was friendly, you could tell they really enjoyed being there. Ok, I'm a sucker for some vintage style and the light blue cushion barstools were not only comfortable, they were astheically pleasing. There's plenty to do there, while enjoying your brew. Arcade, pinball boardgames. I also really likes the way the bar was set up so the big screen tvs were separate from and yet still accessible to the bar. That way if you aren't into sports ball you don't have to watch it or you can, either way it's a great set up. BA Abraxas Imperial stout with ancho chili peppers, cacao nibs, and cinnamon sticks aged in whiskey...
Read moreI've been coming here long enough without including a review that I felt it was time.
I moved away from the area many years ago and recently moved back and started exploring the St. Louis craft scene. Perennial did not exist when I left, but several folks whom I work with recommended the spot.
I don't always love the styles that Perennial presents, but can appreciate the consistency and representation of the style that is brewed by the company. You can tell that the quality is excellent and that Perennial is putting its signature on the beer.
The taproom takes up the entire bottom floor of a loft building and has a cool vibe. There is a large outdoor area that is wonderful during warm weather and firepits for when it is chilly outside. Inside, there are ample amounts of seating options.
What really sells the place for me is the staff. I typically travel around with my family and they always treat my kids very well. You can tell that the owners or brewers have children and bring them around here as it is equipped for kids to have some enjoyment as well. Particular highlights of staffing include Emily and Peggy, but everyone has...
