The Cakery — Restaurant in St. Louis

My husband and I recently ordered a cake for our wedding reception. We provided them, a week in advance, with the cake stand, cake topper and greenery that we wanted to be on the cake. We even sent them a picture with instructions on how we wanted the cake to be decorated. We arrived the day of the event to pick up the cake only to find that the cake had only been iced and not decorated. When they eventually found the decorations that we had given them we asked the girl if she could decorate it for us and she replied, "I can try". Once she started putting the greenery around the top layer she mentioned that she wouldn't be able to do it around the bottom layer because of the box it was in. My husband and I then left the bakery with a half decorated cake and had to finish putting the decorations on at the venue. To pay $125 for a cake and not have the job totally complete is kinda poor business. The only reason we didn't say anything while we were there is because we didn't want it to ruin our day. Yes, the cake did taste good...which is why I gave 3 stars. If they didn't want to decorate it for us then they should've told us that the week before when we brought all the stuff to them. We went to the Cakery Bakery for our wedding cake, cupcakes, and groom's cake and couldn't have been happier!! We had a small cake to cut and the rest cupcakes for our wedding guests. We had a variety of flavors (ALL delicious) each with different color frosting/toppings. They offer a variety of flavors and decor choices which was nice (though it made it hard to choose at times). They offer tastings at their shop along with lots of displays of cakes and cupcakes.

I also went to the Cakery for a surprise groom's cake at the wedding rehearsal. I showed them some inspiration pictures and gave them a figurine to use -- it turned out exactly like we wanted and the groom loved it.

They are flexible with meeting times, always respond to emails/calls, very friendly and nice, and have their stuff together! They worked with us on pickup and work to get what you want.

I hired The Cakery for my wedding cake. The cake was so delicious, it was almost impossible to believe. If I must say, it was the most delicious cake I have ever had at any wedding or any function of any kind. And, it was beautiful! Erika and her team just gave me EXACTLY what I asked for. I looked at other bakeries for my cake, all of which were MUCH more expensive. There is no way any of those places could have made me happier. The Cakery showed up on time, were always polite through all the planning and preparation, returned all calls promptly, and the cake was gorgeous. I think it is worth mentioning, that a bakery right down the street from the Cakery made a birthday cake for me a few years ago. They couldn't follow even the simplest of instructions, and since they refused to provide a contract, there was nothing I could do but pay them. But The Cakery was simply perfect in every way.
