I don't write reviews most of the time but this service needs one. I expected something so much more then what I was presented that evening. I assumed a place in the Hill area that focuses on dinner service will be a good place to take my mother for her birthday; mind you both being in the restaurant industry for many years. This isn't me being ignorant, but really 23$ For a "Fondue Board": (1) Cut Up Apple (50 cents - $1.50 Max), (1) 4oz Sausage cut up Maybe ($1.50 - $2), Some blanched Asparagus (50Cents-75Cents) ( Good cook on it ) but zero flavor, 2 slices of bread cut up($1), then 4oz - 6oz of Fondue($2-$3). Just way to much negative space and not enough product for the price point, it is not worth it at all. You're making a great profit from the dish but ripping off your guest all around. If you want to serve that lower that price point all around. The Brussel Sprouts Side, The Only flavor from the dish was the Bacon.... It's okay to add salt or some seasoning to items. The Polynesian Ribs were over cooked but you couldn't see the char in that dark "romantic" atmosphere. The best part about the dish was the Pear and Arugula salad. The Fish And Chips... I think the best part about the dish was the Aioli. Old Bay and the Aioli were the only flavor. Little to no seasoning with the Fish. The best part about the whole experience The Service from your awesome bartender who made us great drinks that evening. She deserved her tip, it wasn't her fault the food was poor quality. I wasn't going to make her night more difficult by expressing any of this but I hope this is reviewed and taken for account. Keep that in mind, take care of your staff, they are holding up there end in the front of the house. Do the same in the back of house. That experience was embarrassing tonight. I understand and saw your cliental which is why you're able to get by with that quality but don't hold your self to a low standard unless you have just given...
Read moreVisited on Saturday11/3/18 @ around 11:30. When we got to the restaurant it did not look open as the sign was off. When we walked in we were sat as we were one of 2 tables in the restaurant. We had never been here before but we were not asked that either. The server, Tank, was not very friendly and honestly was rude at a point in the experience but we were out for my dads birthday and I didnt want to make a scene. We were being indecisive about what to get and we felt like more of an inconvenience to Tank then welcomed. We got the fried burrata and it was ice cold in the center. We ate it as we thought maybe it was suppose to be this way. I did ask the server and he gave me some kind of dismissive answer. Two of us got the fish and chips. The fish tasted off and old we did not finish it and as Tank too them from the table he did not ask if we like them or not.. The club sandwich was good and we all love the fries. My wife liked her brussel sproat salad but not the pork pieces in it. My dad asked for a beer and we got it twenty minutes later, only after he asked for it again. Tank was more interested in the two top in the bar that he was letting draw on a chalk board. He spent most of his time sitting in the bar playing on his phone. He had been to their table multiple times being very attentive to them but not to us. At no point did we get refills or did he even ask for them. It was not a pleasant meal and I know wish we just would have went to the pizza place across the street. The only thing we all agreed on was that the fries were the best part of everyone's meal, that Tank did not carenthatbwe were their and that we would not be back. I still left a 15% tip which was way more then he deserved. We will not be back or...
Read moreThis was probably the third time my spouse and I have been here, all for a pre-Fox show. First time was very good, second time, his meal was good and mine was just fine. This time, unfortunately, both were borderline inedible. I am not one to write a poor review, but for a place marketing itself with prestige prices, it does not back it up with quality. We started with the egg rolls and a smoked old fashioned each. Then had the steak frites and fish and chips. The appetizer was fine, nothing special but the sauce was good. Cocktails were nice as well. However, the entrees were a different story.
The steak was ordered medium rare...but came out grey and slimy. My spouse likened it to chewy gyro meat. The fish, supposed to be in a cornmeal batter, was not at all crispy and sandy in texture. All of it was bland even with lemon for the fish. The strange thing is it seemed if the fish was fried, the oil was just not hot enough, cause I don't know how you get that texture unless it was baked? The one saving grace on each of our plates were the fries, which were quite good.
I get things not being five star artisanal cuisine all the time. Maybe it was just an off night. But the bill with a tip was $120, and we could have gotten a better meal from a fast casual restaurant for nowhere near that price.
We didn't complain to the waiter. He seemed to be the only staff member in the entire restaurant, and he was quite nice even despite having to run around everywhere. Having had good experiences and seeing so many other glowing reviews, I’d normally be willing to give a place another chance. But the entrees were unappetizing, I definitely not be coming back, and as this was maybe the most poor food experience I've had in years, I will sadly be warning others...
