Tschüss — Restaurant in St. Louis

giving 4 stars for benefit of the doubt here, because i have been twice now and both nights were unexpectedly mellow and they did not actually open the “klub” portion of this dance club. i was under the impression if there was a DJ booked for the night they would be performing in the dance space; the New Wave night on Monday had good song curation but the vibes among the crowd were quite lacking. i’ll have to visit on a friday through sunday i guess to experience the full potential but it’s a little disappointing if the dance club portion is only open half of their business days; otherwise the vibes are more or less the same as ‘ssippi.

i will say the hot dogs are amazing and i appreciate the dedication to bringing a little German culture in; also anyone saying “tschüss” is hard to pronounce isn’t...

Cool space for the most part (bathrooms are hellscapes, long lines are inevitable as well) but not accepting legal tender cash (at a German bar??? Even Berghain doesn’t take cards) and the EXPENSIVE drinks combine to make me dissatisfied. Having veggie dogs is rad. Kinda weird how they have “Excel Soda” on the menu but it’s literally only Double Cola. If they had Ski and Blueberry Breese I’d take a second look. The nicely designed bar is LONG but seat density at the bar makes it hard to get a drink. With $12 cocktails there has to be cash (or digital I guess??? 😭) in the bank for a heater/fire pit on the patio. Overall I think it’s a cool concept with lots of opportunities for improvement and I hope to see it become successful...

This place brought a vibe that south city needed SO bad. I love it. I've tried to come every weekend since they've opened. There are some minor annoyances that make it a 4 star though. 2 bathroom stalls for a club is rough. 2 bartenders making very nice cocktails is great, but the "beer and shot only" section of the bar is always empty because they won't make a whiskey+coke, and people aren't really housing shots. That results in 2 bartenders working their butts off and 2 barback/tenders sitting on their hands and frustrating customers when they have to wait 20 minutes for a drink.

Keep curating excellent DJ's and immaculate vibes and I'll still be there. I'm just not going to buy as many drinks there as I could until...
