UPDATE: Management responded and attempted to clarify the situation, I've increased my review from 2 stars to 3 for the effort to resolve my complaints. Some issues remain unresolved by design of the establishments owners. (Original Review Below)
In response to Management: I'm going to leave it at 3 stars for now as you we're still out of several items on your menu on one of my visits which was disappointing. It was explained to me that your order was put in that day and that was why you were out of a few things, it was a Tuesday evening. And well, not answering your business phone, to me, seems unprofessional and an inconvenience to your customers. Even if they are not in your dinning room, they are still just as important of a customer. They can still review you, they can still give you 2 stars, and they can still tell others about their experience. They can also still show up in your dinning room ready to enjoy your fare.
Should we decide to visit again in the future, I may return and adjust my review if you are able to accommodate all of your customers, but for now i'm comfortable leaving it at 3 due to your lack of external customer service, not answering your phone on a night where you only had a few tables sat, and short supply of menu items on our second visit.
I do wish you and your business the best, as your food is extraordinary!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Our first visit here a month ago was out of this world amazing. The kielbasa was outstanding as was the stew. The wine list seemed a little skimpy until we discovered the captains menu... If you're a wine lover, you must check it out. Easily 5 🌟 at this point...
Unfortunately, our second two visits did not end as well. First we tried to order some food to take home and called 3 times over 15 minutes with no answer to their main line. I drove in since it's not too far away and there were only about 3 tables filled in the place when I arrived. The bartender was reluctant to serve me food to go. He said they didn't have to go containers and mentioned some strange takeout policy because food quality degrades when you take it home... Like food does.... (Despite having taken my leftovers home in a standard issue restaurant to go box the first time we visited, and they were fantastic still the next day) After a bit he was willing to take my order but then found out they were out of a bunch of things, namely the stew. Would have been nice if I could have been told this info 1 of the 3 times I called and they didn't answer. We wound up just leaving.
On our third visit, we called to get food on the way home and the person on the phone informed us they no longer allow takeout... We decided to just visit the bar and place an order and then "take home the left overs"... They were not pleased 🤔. They mentioned they don't like doing to go orders when it's busy... Which I understand, however that was not how it was stated on the phone and the place was only about half full.
Food is outstanding... Customer relations are poor. Not sure we'll be back, as at these prices we expect a much more professional customer...
Read moreI’m not normally one to write reviews but our experience at the Main Street Farmer Eatery was so lovely that we have to give them our compliments! Every detail of our celebratory night out was perfect. We were greeted with enthusiasm and seated in a lovely corner of the restaurant. The atmosphere was spacious and very nice, warm, and had a clean and modern feel to it. Our server was top-notch and seemed happy to be at work and was very personable and knowledgeable about their products. She did a fabulous job of taking care of our table! We enjoyed our food more than I can express in a short review! My husband had the fish special which he said was the best salmon that he had ever had and he has eaten salmon and fish all over the world. I am not a fan of salmon but I had a taste of his meal and really, really enjoyed it as well! It was obvious why he raved about it. It was cooked to perfection and paired with foods that compliment it perfectly. I would have eaten the whole dish myself, if allowed! Two at our table had the Signature Frenched Chicken which they also raved about. The portion was very large and yet they cleaned their plates! We sent our compliments to the chef and he actually found a minute to come and chat with us! What an amazing, innate talent he seems to possess! His ability to combine flavors and create such wonderful menu items will have us coming back time and again!! And he is such an affable person who seems to love what he does….and he does it so well! I am the person that has food allergies and normally have a difficult time ordering anywhere we go. Main Street Farmer Eatery made it easy for me to find something that I could eat and it was excellent! They offer a gluten-free bun were able to further modify my dish to make it safe for me to eat! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that since I usually have to settle with something bland or boring when a restaurant can’t or won’t modify a menu item so that I can eat it. When my food came I verified that it was actually a gluten-free bun on the plate as it looked too good to be gluten-free but it was, in fact, and it was delicious! I also had the skin-on-fries with Aioli and a salad as well and it was all very tasty! We had a chance to meet the owner of the restaurant which was such a pleasure! We found out that he also owns the BK Tap Haus & Bourbon Room next door so we went over there for drinks following our meal and that was as lovely of an experience as our dinner was. I encourage everyone to visit these two gems right here in St. Michael! I’m sure you will not be disappointed! All the staff we encountered was of the highest quality….the Bartender, the General Manager (also a pleasure to meet) and other wait staff. They appreciated that we were there and they cared to make our night memorable. GO CHECK THEM OUT AND HAVE A...
Read moreI had a great time at the Main Street Farmer Eatery last night and I would love to share my experience:
I will start with our server, Devan, who arrived at our table just after we sat down and very much played a part in guaranteeing a great experience for us. She was energetic, excited to be there and clearly passionate about the work/art being provided at the Main Street Farmer Eatery. Being that it was a busy Saturday night at the restaurant I can understand how that might overwhelm servers with the mass amount of food, drinks and other requests coming from all tables under her watch - not her. She made it a certainty that we were more than happy with our experience at the table and with the food/drinks. Next time we visit (which WILL be happening) we would love to have her as our server again.
As for the meal, I had their Signature Frenched Chicken which is a chicken breast stuffed with garlic-sage cheese, wrapped in prosciutto mashed potatoes, pan-gravy & long green beans. These are some of my favorite foods and it was immaculate. The chicken was a great mix between (what I'm assuming) is grilled and baked, the green beans were fresh and flavorful and the mashed potatoes were arguably my favorite part of the meal. Additionally, it was a healthy size portion. I was full before my food was gone but I couldn't help but clean my plate. It was so good that we had Devan give our compliments to the Chef. After a few minutes the Chef, Zach, came to our table to speak with us about the meal. We had to tell him just how pleased we were with the food. We found out that he is 24 years old and never went to culinary school and is self-taught. I found this to be an incredible feat as in my personal opinion his cooking could compete with, and even beat, some fine-dining restaurants in downtown Minneapolis. My only gripe is that this restaurant has been here for years and I haven't taken the time to stop in sooner.
As we were about to head out for the night the owner, Jonathan, stopped by our table to say thank you for coming in and was pleased to hear about our experience from his staff. We had a great conversation about his prior experiences in this industry and found out that he also owns the BK Tap Haus next door so that's where we headed next. The General Manager, Tony, greeted us once we sat down at our table. We proceeded to have a couple drinks over the course of the next 2 hours to conclude our night in the town.
To summarize: the staff, food, environment and experience was unforgettable. I'm not usually the type to write reviews about restaurants but they absolutely deserved this one. We...
