A Saturday Morning at Uncle Honeyâs Home Style Desserts Rating: 5/5 Stars
From the moment I stepped into Uncle Honeyâs Home Style Desserts on a cozy Saturday morning, I felt like I had walked into my grandmaâs kitchenâif grandma had perfected the art of Southern hospitality and baked goods that whisper sweet nothings to your soul.
The atmosphere was instantly welcoming, with warm lighting, soft soul and Motown music humming through the speakers, and the gentle clatter of mixing bowls and conversation from behind the counter. The dĂ©cor is a loving blend of vintage charm and comfortâthink floral wallpaper, rustic signage, and the faint smell of vanilla, cinnamon, and butter floating through the air. It feels like home, even if itâs your first time.
I arrived around 9:30 a.m., just in time to beat the mid-morning rush. There were already a few regulars laughing with staff who clearly knew them by name, which is always a good sign. The service? Impeccable. I was greeted with a genuine smile and offered suggestions like I was part of the family. The staff didnât rush, but they were efficient, friendly, and clearly passionate about the food they serve.
The vibe walking in is warm and nostalgicâlike stepping into a familiar kitchen where somethingâs always baking and love is the main ingredient. The space feels intentional and homey, with its vintage dĂ©cor, cheerful chatter, and the smell of fresh-out-the-oven magic wrapping around you like a cozy blanket.
Now, letâs get to the heart of the experience: the assortment of flavored tea cakes. I had heard a lot of hype about these little bites of joy, but they still managed to exceed expectations. I tried a box that included classic , lemon, buttermilk , maple pecan, and lemon pecan. Each one had its own personalityâsoft and fluffy inside with a delicate, golden-baked edge and just the right touch of sweetness.
The best part? These tea cakes arenât overly sweet. Theyâre balanced, making it dangerously easy to eat more than one (which I absolutely did with no regrets). Theyâre perfect for sharingâor not sharing, if weâre being honest. The breakfast was amazing! I started with a veggie omelette that was incredibly freshâpacked with peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach ,tomatoes and cheese, cooked just right. My guest had bacon, grits, and a biscuit, and didnât say much because they were too busy devouring every bite. The biscuit was fluffy and golden, and the grits were creamy, buttery perfection.
The staff made us feel like family. Great portions, fair pricing, and food that tastes like love. Do yourself a favor: come hungry and leave with dessert. Uncle Honeyâs...
Read moreI love the teacakes, but the female manager was very very rude. Full disclaimer: I called Before I went to buy the delicious teacakes and asked the lady who answered the phone, could I place my order, and drive up near the door to collect my order. The reason I couldn't enter the restaurant, is because I had my puppy riding in the car with me, and I couldn't leave her by herself in the car. The lady on the phone told me that it was fine. She gave me my total, I happily went to Uncle Honey's. I then called when I arrived at the restaurant, as I said I would, and another female answered the phone. She texted asked why I couldn't come in yo get my teacake order, and I repeated the telephone conversation. She then placed me on hold and never came back to the phone. About 5 minutes later, the lady who I originally talked to- came out and collected my money. She returned inside the building, and came back out with my change, and said, 'well my manager has informed me that we can't do curbside drop offs.' Here's the gag: I bought 39.50 worth of teacakes... not a pack or 2... I bought 11 to 12 packages of teacakes- CLOSE TO 50 TEACAKES.... so.. that's about 4 dozen teacakes? And... the manager had the nerve to have a nasty attitude?! Are you serious?! The very next time I purchase teacakes from Uncle Honey's, I'll speak to the manager personally because this managerial response is unacceptable. I totally get the fact that curbside service isn't offered.. but customer service and positivity goes a long way. In conclusion: Teacakes =âââââ. The lady who I spoke with originally on the phone= âââââ[I'll tip her on my next visit. The manager = đ„đ„đ„đ„ A flaming oh hell no stamp. Anyhoo... y'all try the teacakes, talk to Uncle Honey and the Lil lady with the glasses... Avoid the 'manager', because obviously she really believes that her title entitled...
Read moreI came across Uncle Honey's Home Style Desserts after reading a post on another social media site. This place is close to me, although I have never heard of or seen the place and it was opened in 2015. I was pleasantly surprised when I made the visit. The shop is located in an unassuming shopping center, near a tire shop. I almost missed it even with my GPS and had to drive around the area. Once you park and walk up to the doors, you can smell the scent of baked goods permeating through the door. The friendly lady at the shop greeted me before I even stepped into the store. I went after 12:00 so many of the desserts were sold out. I got the banana pudding (single serving), the 7-up pound cake with lemon glaze, and buttermilk tea cakes. I tried a little bit of everything when I got home. I've never had tea cakes and was curious. These were delicious -not too sweet, slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The banana pudding was delicious - I told my son that it was even better than the one at the Grand Central Station in NYC!! The pound cake - dense and moist, just like what a pound cake is supposed to taste. Overall, everything was delicious! I will be going back to get some more! PS -They have a Saturday brunch but I have not...
