Good Asian grocery shopping. Pretty much a monopoly. It's amazing how the entire Charlotte metro has over 2 million people and yet there is one Chinese supermarket. There is also Super G on Independence, but that place is Korean with Chinese products scattered throughout the store. As for the clientele here, it's mostly mainland Chinese. This is where different cultural upbringings come on full display. When you go to the food court, especially on a weekend, nobody lines up. There's simply a small mob of people standing at the counter and whoever yells the loudest, typically in Mandarin, gets service. It may come as rude and shocking to Americans who line up for everything. I also miss the idea of American customer service, which is non-existent here. Once I asked about a type of cake with green filling on display. The woman at the counter bluntly said to me in Cantonese, "I can't tell you. People from Malaysia basically lap up that stuff and you're not from there so just don't buy it!" Then, after I paid she threw the receipt on the counter, turned around and just left. I guess she had more urgent things to attend to like making bubble tea. Well, as the saying goes, it is what it is. I definitely avoid this place on the weekend as I am...
Read moreThe manager there is very unprofessional and rude. We bought one product over there last week. When got home, we found the item seems opened and the price is too high. Then we kept the product as it was, thinking of returning it. Today we went to store for the return. The manager looked very unhappy. He checked the product and said that the item was opened, and asked why you return it after you used it. We told him that we didn't use it and we return because it looks like being opened. He questioned us that how you can approve you didn't use it. We insisted on returning it. Finally he agreed to return it. But his voice, tone and face expression are very insulting. It looks like that we did something shameful, and he forgave us and gave us a huge favor. As mentioned in another previous review, they don't care their customers because lack of competition. We spent a lot money here every year. They are happy when we buy. But once we made a return (even though it is only one return this year), they look like that we steal money from them. I know, probably my review can't impact anything about their management. But I still hope it can...
Read moreIt's great, go check it out. I love this place! Some items are overpriced, those they sell in other stores such as a $5 mochi ice cream box everywhere else, but they charge $10 for theirs. And, other stuff like some standard tea brands that are $2 less in other places and canned food. But, they sell items you can not find anywhere. So, I stick to buying things there that I can't find anywhere in the city and U go to get their fresh produce because I can buy everything I need in one place. Fresh herbs, huge portion of fresh mint compared to other grocery stores. Sprouts by the lb, several types of fresh mushrooms I haven't found anywhere else. Also, the management is super kind and helpful. Very friendly and do what ever they could to help me find what I need. I'd rate it a 5 * but they need to make things more affordable! The $16 earrings are online from China for about $5-10. I overspend every time I go because of how pricey everything is. I'm only able to go shopping there occasionally...
