While on our way to another location (which we also heard was pretty good), our GPS stopped us short. We saw Mom's and asked some folks outside if it was worth a try. They expressed their fondness of Mom's so we decided to try it out. At first glance, we were blown away by the subtle, unassuming cafe style beauty. The place was pretty well packed but they cleared a booth for us. A great little waitress popped over to our table welcoming us and offering suggestions and answering questions (we're picky diner eaters and have a certain level of expectation of which we find MANY locations sadly fall short). MOM's does NOT FALL SHORT. In fact, the coffee the chicken dumpling soup (HOLY SMOKES IT'S AMAZING!!!!!) the meatloaf bowl, the biscuits and gravy all were completely wonderful. As previously stated, our waitress suggested several of the items we ordered and OBVIOUSLY she takes "ownership" of her position there and pride in her work as each of the items was even better than she described. I've eaten all over the world (retired military), I have taken trains for 9 hours for a specific meal at a specific restaurant, I have driven 8 hours to try a burger in the middle of the foothills of Tarply Texas. All of my food trips were worth the time and effort, however, considering Mom's is only 45 minutes I would say this place would rank up with the cheese beer bread with onions at the Monastery in Baumberg Germany. I would recommend this place to anyone. One last item to mention, 3 of us left there COMPLETELY FULL, SATISFIED and a box of leftovers, and our total bill was $25. Three people cannot eat the garbage at a fast food place for that much! Save your money, drive over to Mom's, grab a table, order anything, and enjoy your food knowing you're eating in one of the greatest little places between the QC...

Thought we would try a new diner for lunch, switch things up, keep the marriage alive. Something exciting. The wife doesn’t like change but I regretfully persuaded her. We were hungry for lunch but ordered breakfast instead due to the lack of options for the lunch portion of the menu. We were seated and it took quite a while for our waitress to get to us so we knew what we wanted and ordered at the same time as our drinks. We were noticing it was taking a while to get our food. As our hunger grew we watched as others who arrived after us, received their food and even FINSIHED and paid before ours showed up. We wondered disparagingly, if our time would ever come. After an hour our 2 skillets appeared. This would be the last we would ever see our waitress. Not once did anyone come back to check on us. Our waitress did check on everyone around us but passed us right by. We had been finished with our meal for a while and still no bill. Left to our own devices, the little lady set out to try and find a to-go box for the lack luster food we had leftover. She returned empty handed. Perhaps they keep them in the kitchen but neither of us dared go back there. As we watched our hostess fiddle with the salad bar, we made eyecontact and she went back to her salads, we lost hope, got up and went to the front, asked for our bill and paid, and left with a vow to ourselves to never return. The wife served me divorce papers immediately after this. I am...

Waited around to see a waitress, opened some ornaments we had bought earlier to waste time, finally got drinks ordered after 15 mins (a beer and a lemonade), got drinks and she said she'd be back to take our order, another 10 min or so go by. We ordered green machine wrap, chicken pannini and both got salad and soup bar as side. I'm so glad I atleast got salad and soup to eat to calm my hangry attitude cause we waited an hour for just the sandwiches... We couldn't even ask about our food cause we never saw our waitress. I had to go up to counter to find another lady for silverware so I could even eat my salad. Soup was creamy chicken and rice and after 2 bowls apiece for my husband and I, we got enough chicken to make a chicken nugget. When our sandwiches finally were brought by yet another lady (still our waitress no where around), we asked for boxes to take sandwiches home cause while experience just ruined our appetite so we haven't tried those yet to give a review. When we seemed disappointed and asked to leave, waitress said she doesn't know what was up with kitchen today, but yet we watched a few tables who came in after I ate my salad even have not only their food, but almost finished their meals... Seems like unorganized or untrained staff and corners cut by either management or staff. Not a great first experience and seems like in last few weeks,...

Ahoy, fellow breakfast aficionados! If you're ever cruising through Sterling, IL, and you don't swing by 'Moms Diner', then, my friend, you're committing a culinary crime. Right from the entrance, the atmosphere says "home," but the real magic happens when you're greeted by the legendary Meagan. It's almost as if she had a sixth sense; she anticipated our needs before we even realized them! During the Saturday breakfast blitz, she juggled tasks with the finesse of a Cirque du Soleil performer. My partner in dine, Marcy (see what I did there?) and I opted for the eggs Benedict – a classic move in a classic diner. Though they took a bit to arrive (attributing it to their red-carpet-worthy entrance), it was well worth the wait. In conclusion, 'Moms Diner' is culinary gem of Sterling, IL. Good food, warm ambiance, and a waitress possibly trained by ninjas? What more can you ask for? We're coming back, and next time, I'll be ready to unveil Meagan's superhero alter ego!

What can I say... this is such a great place where the exterior doesn't due the interior justice. Upon arriving, we were met with nothing special on the outside besides the name of the facility and a double door to go through. However, once inside... beautiful dark woods are uniquely placed to enhance the warm feeling and atmosphere. Beautiful bar and lovely tables and booths for which we all sat at comfortably. I chose the prime rib special with baked potatoe, my wife had the fried cod with twice baked potatoe, and our friends both chose the chicken strios with ribs and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. All the dinners came with the salad bar, which was fantastic. I also had a "Dad's" old fashion, which hit t he spot. The meal was slightly on the expensive side. However, I believe it worth every penny. Yum..

I was so disappointed when I heard that the Galena Steak House was closing, but I was so happy to hear that we were getting a new restaurant in it’s place and they did not disappoint! Pictured is the steak skillet, mom’s Florentine eggs Benedict, and a classic ham eggs and hash browns. The food was great and portions were too! Our waitress was super nice when she came around and we enjoyed being in the revamped space. They replaced all of the seating with nice black leather booths and we got the pleasure of sitting in a circle corner one. Super stylish and super comfy. Food was a bit more pricy than others and the wait was a little longer, but we will be back!
