Carl D's Soft Serve and Gourmet Popcorn — Restaurant in Stevens Point

Going to Carl D's is like jumping on the train to soft serve heaven where it continuously rains homemade treats and hot fudge! As the train pulls into my inner child leaps out from within with a grin bigger then any grin I have ever had after a Packer victory! As you search the menu the excitement builds until you find exactly what makes your train run. Searching the menu is one of the more rewarding things you can do in life! It's similar to being put into a room of the cutest puppies in the world and having the "problem" of choosing just one! Don't even get me started with the homemade treats, I can only imagine Mrs. D working tirelessly most likely sweating homemade peanut butter cups. None the less this place is not only my favorite place in Wisconsin, but my favorite place on earth! I was debating a career change so I could buy a mobile home and make Carl D's parking lot my permanent place of living. I waited a long time to try Carl D's because I found it annoying that this place would open so close to Belts. (Really, it doesn't matter what the owner claims, they ARE in direct competition with them!) I finally caved and was so disappointed! The popcorn was stale, even though that is what the place claims is so great about them...the diversity of products. The ice cream was no better than Belts and was clearly just a copy. I mean, come on...they advertise the same things such as "fresh raspberries!" at the same time that Belts ALWAYS has. They also make a big fuss about the "long lines" at Belts, but I've gone there about 6 times this summer and never had to wait for more than 3-4 people! I'd rather support a long-standing community business than someone coming in and trying to take their place without offering us...

The ice cream was good -- however this didnt earn my 5 stars because when I got my sundae it looked big and "filled up" when I digged in with my spoon it appears there's a huge hole in the middle and the top is whipped cream (covered it up so it looks filled) it looks like the only ice cream I had was on the inside of the cup wall with the hallow middle with no ice cream. :( I was quite disappointed. And only one piece of Brownie? I thought more -- again disappointing. The ice cream cup display looks good and filled. It's kinda deceiving -- it looks like a lot however feels light then boom there's the hallow inside of the cup :( it was $5 for this brownie Sundae with fresh...
