I’ve been wanting to try this place for a bit and finally had the opportunity to do so. I went in and placed an order for peach cobbler, red beans only without rice, and collard greens. However, I did tell them that I just wanted the beans without the rice. The woman who took my order was very nice. Often another woman would ask me if what I ordered was really what I wanted, in which I confirmed.
Upon receiving my order I noticed the bill was higher than expected. The total was about $23.00. I checked the itemized receipt and compared it to their menu price. Clearly the menu says $4.95 for the red beans and rice. To my surprise, I was charged $9.50 for a side of the red beans and rice. (The peach cobbler was $6.95, although it wasn’t on the menu). I went back in and questioned why I was charged $9.50 for a side that said $4.95. The woman told me because it’s $4.95 for the red beans and $4.95 for the rice, although I didn’t order or get any rice, I was still charged for it. She also said that the $9.50 charge shows up on their register, but not on their menu.
I’ve ordered red beans and rice numerous times from other establishments and this is the first time I’ve ever been charged separately for an item that is known to come together. They could have at least made this clear. Red beans and rice is a dish combo like chicken and waffles or shrimp and grits. You wouldn’t be charged separately for the chicken and for the waffle. It didn’t make sense to me. Unfortunately, because of this and the lack of clarity I and the others with me won’t go back. The red beans were actually good and the peach cobbler was okay. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the greens though, since I found them too sweet for my liking. Basically, this is just an FYI for people who want to order a side of red beans and rice and...
Read moreLet's just say, you're better off cooking at home. My friends and I had a pretty bad dine-in experience. At first it was chill and we loved the vibes. And then after awhile, it got weird. Every single plate they brought us was not what we had ordered. Even when I told them my order again, they still gave me the wrong plate. Then they had to come back multiple times to ask what we ordered to drink because they kept forgetting. I ordered cat fish, greens, and mac n cheese. I ended up getting cat fish, shrimp, beans and rice, and greens. But I was glad I didn't get the mac n cheese because when I saw it on my friend's plates, I was like "Lord I don't want that." So I guess that was an answered prayer. Everyone in my party did not eat their mac. What I did like: the catfish (the cuts were really small), shrimp, and beans and rice. What I didn't like: The greens were salty, the cornbread was hard and didn't have any flavor. I wasn't going to write a review until I found out that the owner of this establishment went into my friend's job (another restaurant) and...
Read moreThere is so much to say... Food: Every plate was wrong and or missing something. Food flavors were inconsistent from plate to plate even for the same items. Seasoning was inconsistent (shrimp and they all tasted different and were either too salty of bland). Ordered chicken wings but got 2 big 8$$ drumsticks (but i dnt like drumsticks which is why i ordered wings😐) Mac n cheese wasn't chesse'n, Greens were salty, Cornbread (not hitn nor buttered) Service: tablecloth was dirty, the cook handled one plate with the same gloves worn to Flour the chicken. However the waitress and cook were very kind and tried to make the experience pleasant-ish considering it was hotter that hot in there. But Granny was very snappy and rude. She was saying little smart remarks under her breath regarding people not eating all their food and rolling her eyes when we would need things like more water, hot sauce and napkins. Overall it was an expensive experience but not necessarily a good experience. I hope they make shine much needed adjustments moving forward. Sorry just speaking my...
