The Bob Hope Theatre — Attraction in Stockton

Majestic perfection visually especially inside. There s nothing built like it in today's world. I'm always mesmerized by the attention to detail in architecture and everything from rich colors floor to ceiling. It's like a European palace. Even If you didn't plan on attending an event there, it would be an unforgettable experience just going inside and taking in all the beautiful details that make up this iconic landmark. I've been there 3 or 4 times for music concerts, and each time it felt like I was part of a magical dream.The special effects consume the entire theater from floor to ceiling ...so much it's hard to take it all in. I can't say enough,but " a dreamy magical galaxy of sight and sound " is my best synopsis...always entire audiences of standing fans applauding, cheering, yet respectful of one another. The British Pink Floyd cover band featured singers and musicians so talented ...for me and my man, we will continue to come back every time the venue returns. I really can't say enough,so I hope anyone who likes Pink Floyd or similar music or just any venue featuring music or stories you appreciate can get to Bob Hope Theater in Stockton for an unforgettable day or night. There's no better venue in northern CA.

In case you need details...the bathrooms are all remodeled...roomy,clean, close to main stage area. There's a bar on ground level and upstairs...no elevatir, but handicapped are downstairs is roomy and about 12 or so rows from stage I think. I'm in a wheelchair and feel like it's perfect for comfort and practical needs...lots of parking along streets...didn't notice parking garages,sorry. Comfortable seating and temperature...polite ushers many of whom I've seen there for years,so they must be satisfied with the management I think. Love to...

Three stars. There is a reason. Parking was good and the area is close to the college and safe. I didn't see much in the area for food and after show hang out. They may be there, just didn't see anything myself.

The theater is an old theater that was beautifully restored. It is clean, and workers were nice, had good security. I was impressed with just the grandness of the place. I have been to old theaters in San Francisco and other similar sized places, the Bob Hope Theater is nicer.

Now for the negative. To be blunt the sound sucks. I saw a performance by a band that wasn't loud and the sound bounced off the walls. The walls are hard cement, or stucco over brick, and I didn't see any baffling. What happens is the amps send out the sound vibration and that vibration hits the walls and they send the sound back at the audience. This causes a muddiness to the sound and the bass and drum, usually they are culprits, are heard twice.

The way this is fixed is have a building that redirects sound away from audience, like Winterland did years ago. If you don't have that you hang baffles from ceiling or hang heavy curtains. You see this in theaters. The sound waves hit the curtain and is absorbed rather than sent back.

The theater remodeler, again it was expertly done in visual aspects, neglected the audio. The sound engineer said he never listened to the sound outside of the headphones but upon looking at walls said "bouncing of the cement.

Would I go to the theater again? If my wife insisted and the performer not anywhere within two hours, I may to make her happy. ZZ Top is coming and I would love to see them in a small venue but I would not go. Sole reason is there is no way they will sound good in that theater. Too bad because it is an...

The theatre is very beautiful nothing wrong with the Theatre. I will say this though. Whoever you guys had working security and snack bar for the Team Dance competition was horrible. The staff was rude and they used foul language in front of children. Remind you this was a childrens dance competition. Just to get in the door they treated you like you had to pass security on an airline. I could see if they were checking for weapons because of everything going on in the world, BUT THEY WERE SEARCHING FOR FOOD. Some of our dancers were told they couldn't have their water bottles. Are you kidding me? Some of our dancers have to dance 4-10 dances. They couldn't bring in their water because you guys wanted to charge 4 dollars for a bottle of Dasani. I hope Team Dance NEVER uses your venew again. The staff working for the theatre was...
