Miguel's Méxican Dining — Restaurant in Stockton

Update: Thursday, August 14, 2025 PM Consistency seems to be an issue. A couple of nights ago I had just about the best tamales I’ve ever had so I went back tonight and ordered tamales again. They were definitely made by a different cook. They were not good and I will not order them again. The masa to meat ratio was way off. I had chunks of just solid masa with no meat ! I thought I found my Nirvana of tamales but it turned out too good to be true. Again, consistency! Sad ——————— Update: Tuesday, August 12, 2025 PM Impressive. Everything from the taste of the food to the temperature and how fast it was delivered! The food looked amazing when I received it. It tasted amazing… as good or better as it does in the restaurant. I ordered two pork enchiladas with rice and beans. It was delicious. They have really good gravy and you can’t put enough gravy on it for me. The other order I ordered for the next night was too pork tamales with rice and beans. THE PORK TAMALES WERE OUTSTANDING! Believe it or not this is the first time I’ve ever had tamales that had more meat inside than they had masa on the outside! I mean they were outstanding. The gravy is excellent. I would’ve liked a lot more gravy over my tamales. This is going to be my standing order when I visit Miguel’s in person. Compliments to the chef, to the person that packed my order, to the person that delivered my order. We will be ordering from here again soon‼️🥰 ————————- Update: Tuesday, April 26, 2022 Been a while since I’ve had Mexican food. Went here partly for taco Tuesday which in the past was two dollars per taco now it is three dollars. The increase in price is understandable. They’ve held at two dollars for quite a while. My issue is not with the price but with the shredded chicken that they use in the tacos. It’s not the same as the chunks of chicken that they used to use. They were really good back then. I do not like or care for the shredded chicken at all. But I still ate a couple of tacos since I was hungry. I also ordered a pork tamale. They make their own tamales, I believe, every Thursday or every other Thursday. It was pretty good.

The servers there are the best! Kudos. My main server was Caroline but if the other servers see a need, they pitch in.

I wish they would go back to the real chunks of chicken instead of the shredded chicken! Good food! Four stars because of how expensive it is and the small portions.

Just like everything else, prices have gone up. Quite a bit!

Tonight I ordered chili Verde with rice and beans. The food was excellent. But a very small plate for almost $19! Probably trying to make up what they lost in the last couple of years and also pay for the higher salaries for the employees.

But… They still offer the two dollar tacos on Tuesdays! Your choice of chicken or beef. They are good.

The service was good and the place has a cool vibe and the bar was packed and looks ikes like a fun time. However, the food leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered take out for 7 people and it was incredibly bland.. rice is flavorless and beans we're the same. I added my own salt to make it at least edible. The carne asada I ordered was supposed to come with onions and peppers but my meal didn't come with it .. just the asada steak that, again, had pretty much no flavor. This is my only experience eating there so maybe the cook was new or they ran out of salt and seasonings. In any case, being that Stockton has a huge variety of legit Mexican food I'm not exactly sure I would choose this place over one of the several other really good authentic Mexican spots. I don't like giving bad reviews so I still gave them 2 stars and more stars for service and everything else. Food just was not good at all in my opinion. Left me very dissatisfied,...

I actually forget about Miguel's but it's really good and the pricing reasonable. I had the #1 combination plate taco and enchilada, mine were chicken,you can also choose beef or mix them. Salad, beans and rice $10.95. The taco was crispy and well made. Everything was delicious! I had black beans but you have your choice. The chip come with salsa we also had guacamole,but it was a party so I am not sure if that was extra,but let me just say I am very picky about guacamole and I could not stop eating theirs, it was amazing!

Our server was second to none, she was friendly and very attentive. She kept our drinks full and made sure all our needs were met!

I definitely want to make it a priority to remember Miguel's! They put out great food with service to match!

They just need to add Auga Fresca to the menu to become a favorite, but their...
