This is our 5th year going to this restaurant and they have just lost a customer for good .. we had a 6:00 reservation and we arrived at 5:45 outside as requested .. our waitress was fabulous as the service is always a 10, we ordered the scallops with bacon and it was delicious as always … the Caesar salad was spot on as always .. my eggplant and ravioli was delish but two people ordered the steak and potatoes medium .. it came well done and was all the way around not good … someone ordered the Chilean sea bass and it was good .. we all shared the pound cake and ice cream which was delicious .. but here’s where they lost me and I was super annoyed and will never return … we dropped about$300 and as we r having dessert and our bill was paid two of the women noticed an older woman glaring at us from the steps constantly starring and making us feel extremely uncomfortable… the waitress comes over and says that unfortunately we were going to have to leave because she needed the table for a party of nine! First she said we got there at 5:45 , which we did but our reservation was for 6 regardless what time we got there.. the time had been blocked from 6 to 8 and it was 7/30 and she’s asking us to leave because she has a party of nine and needs our table ….and she told us our seating was for two hours At that time .. there is no place that it states how long your seating is for nor does it tell you when you call ( and u can only call 30 days before for a reservation) .. but our two hours was not up and second someone else had screwed up the incoming party because when you have a party there for 6:00 why r u pushing them out the door at 7:30 for another reservation even if she went by the time we arrived which was 6:45.. it was poorly handled, the manager should have come over not the waitress and the incoming party needed to wait their turn and stop glaring at us and then approaching the inside staff to ask us to leave… something/ someone screwed up and was definitely wrong but we were the ones put out and you know what … if im dropping $300 at your restaurant and u do not notify in advance of the seating limit then u had no business throwing us out ! Never again and maybe just maybe u will think about how annoyed you made a faithful customer feel .. restaurants r very pricey now and yours is no exception … for the kind of money that we dropped everything should have been fabulous including the hospitality …. And for that...
Read moreThis place has a lot of charm and the servers and owner are exceptionally welcoming and accommodating and prompt. The owner answers the phone personally when you call - love that.
The food has some high and low marks. Salad is nothing fancy and you’re served a bottle of water rather than a glass which is a little bizarre but certainly not unsafe or bad quality I suppose. Just odd. It’s BYOB as many places are in this area- keep that in mind.
This place measures up locally, and for a really friendly vibe and pretty good food you should totally come here. It has way less pretension than some other spots nearby and frankly similar quality food - at lower or similar prices. That’s cool and I can appreciate that. It’s not trying to win awards in NYC- different environment here.
Not many seats indoors and a few on patio, so call ahead to reserve rather than just waltzing in - especially during busier summer season. Parking is easy on residential streets within...
Read moreWe walked by Borghi's day after day, year after year, and never went in to eat. Thanks to new friends we met in Florida this winter, we finally gave it a try. It's a small place. We had a reservation. Got seated right away. The owner/chef came and greeted us. A smaller menu with a few specials. Everything we ordered was excellent! The owner stopped at our table a couple of times to make sure of it. It's definitely one of those places that you wish it was bigger to accommodate more people and make it easier to get in, but bigger isn't always better. It works. Leave it alone. We will try to go back, hopefully more than once, this summer and especially in the fall when things slow down on the island. They are open until New Years. Definitely give it a try. Thanks, John and Ceil for the...
