Really disappointed in the service. The waitress was very nice, no complaints about her, at all. I bought the club sandwich for lunch today. It arrived with fries and my drink. I ate a few of the fries and began to eat the sandwich and the bacon was not cooked much and was fatty. Really like slippery, gross fat. I couldn't eat the sandwich. In the past, I’ve never asked to send back food, but I did today. No big deal, I got bad food, no one meant to do that, it was gross, but the patrons/diners around me seemed really happy with their food, I just caught an unlucky sandwich.
I told the waitress about it, I wasn’t upset, I was embarrassed for sending food back. She asked me what I wanted the outcome to be, and I told her, I did not want to pay for the meal since I could not eat it.
She talked to the manager. I had asked not to be charged, I was disappointed the food wasn’t good, but no big deal, I was just grossed out and still hungry. Well, the manager took a firm stance and decided he or she were not going to honor my request. He or she did not charge me for the sandwich, but thought it was OK to charge me for the 10 fries I ate and the 10 sips of drink I drank.
I’m not complaining about the food, that happens, but come on manager. Why so petty? I didn’t eat the meal, I literally apologized for complaining, I could’ve just walked out at any time and not paid, and not addressed my concern, I could’ve just said no to any of the bill. That is not the point, what a silly and petty stance to take over 10 fries and a few sips of drink. $10 later, the most expensive 10 fries and several sips of Diet Coke, ever, I walked back to my hotel and wrote this review.
I’m not saying don’t go here to eat, others seemed to have had great meals, I just wanted to write this, because clearly the manager didn’t care. He or she did not care that the food was raw (bacon), that the bacon was all fat, and slippery and gross. He or she did not care that I was driven away as a customer. Clearly didn’t care at...
Read moreStopped by here on a road trip w/ my dad over the weekend from Ghent, WV to our home in Northern Virginia, close to Chantilly shall we say. My EV was about to die, so I needed to recharge it and we stopped by supercharger in Strasburg, VA.
While we did, we found this Diner was walkable from there, so while EV was charging we ate dinner here.
Went in and we got seating inside. I ordered a Green Tea (they were out of shakes), then Grilled Chicken with the lime sauce, I forgot but not the spiciest, and amazed for sides they gave me Vegetable Beef soup, Veggies (carrots green beans etc), mashed potatoes, garlic bread. My dad ordered the Steak with the same.
I will say, I was a little confused and thought it was only one side. So I got the soup and I was like, cool!
Also +1 because the waitress was super young and super nice person in general.
Anyway the food itself was pretty spot on. Grilled chicken nicely seasoned, didn’t even taste like grilled chicken. All the sides were pretty good. Crackers for soup was loaded w sodium of course, but I ate em all cause it’s nice to cheat every now and then.
As for dessert? I said sign me up, and only thing is gotta decide which one. I chose “Pumpkin Pie” because we came in October (Fall) and it was the season for it, so we knew pumpkin would be fresh.
I liked the Pie, it was good, but I had to resist eating all the pumpkin. I usually say no to whipped cream, this time I had a bit because everything in moderation.
Anyway food was good and price was decent, so service and waitress was pretty spot on. All in all give a pass to Strasburg Diner, and hit the spot for dinner on the...
Read moreUnfortunately, this diner did not hit the spot. My husband and I love going out for breakfast. We came here on a weekday.
Food: Ordered Biscuits and gravy, waffle, scrambled eggs and sausage. Biscuits and gravy were fluffy and had a great texture. But they tasted like flour. Very little seasonings and lacked the comfy home cooking taste. Probably from a package mix. Waffle was the best item served. Unfortunately it was smeared in a huge glob of margarine? (Or another butter alternative?) It was not real butter, that's for sure. I had to scrape that off. Syrup was generic. Eggs were fine except they were served with cheese. This wasn't listed on the menu and we didn't order cheese, so not sure why it was served. My husband is DF and couldn't eat them. Fortunately, I can eat cheese and was fine finishing them. The sausages were clearly frozen. They had very little seasoning and were extremely thin. They were fried to get a crispy skin/good coloring. I found them extremely difficult to chew, almost cardboard-like.
We enjoy restaurants that have homestyle cooking, with good seasoning and fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, this doesn't fit with the food we were served.
BUT
Service and atmosphere are fine. -Clean -Kind and friendly staff -Very family friendly (We had noisy kids and no one batted an eye. They were very...
