I did like the food, but I was surprised when I looked at my receipt and saw 3% charge for package and bag fees. I have called twice to speak to the manager and he is yet to call me back. Maybe I should reach out to Attorney General. This fee was not posted when I went into this location
Thank you for bringing this to the community’s attention. According to Connecticut state law, the single-use plastic bag fee was scheduled to end on June 30, 2021. After this date, retailers are no longer allowed to collect fees for single-use plastic checkout bags that are less than 4.0 mils in thickness. Additionally, the use of these single-use checkout bags has been banned altogether. If a store provides other types of bags, such as paper bags or reusable bags, they are allowed to charge for them, but these charges must be clearly identified and are subject to sales tax.
In the case of the receipt you posted, there is a charge for “package and bag fees” amounting to $1.86. This raises a concern as the specific type of bag provided is not mentioned. If this fee includes charges for single-use plastic bags that are under the thickness threshold, it would be in violation of state regulations. On the other hand, if the charge is for paper or reusable bags, the store needs to clearly state this to ensure transparency and compliance with tax regulations.
It’s important for customers to be aware of these laws to avoid unnecessary charges and for businesses to comply with the state regulations. This kind of vigilance helps maintain fairness and clarity for all parties involved. Thank you for sharing this, and I hope the store addresses this matter appropriately to align with Connecticut’s...
Read moreWent there the 1st week after opening. The staff are well trained and attentive - the opening jitters are thankfully absent.
The food was excellent (5 stars) - my Pho was tasty and dense. Lots of stuff to munch on with an excellent broth. The fried pork eegg rolls were a tad oily, but not objectionable. The spring rolls were delicate and subtle.
No problems with the food. I'm sure if you like vietnamese, you will like the menu.
Environmental issues are another matter though. The place will be noisy, there is no sound deadening materials to mitigate the hardwood floors and exposed ceiling. Plus listening to "It's My Life (mix) by Dr Alban" becomes tedious. Techno pop dance music whist eating is not my thing.
Also the interior is very dark. When the sun will shine though the south facing windows, you will have trouble seeing the table in front of you if you are facing towards the window due to the glare. I'm sure some sort of shading will be applied before long. But until your eyes adjust to the dark, reading the menu without a flashlight will be interesting.
I like the food, but a couple of minor tweeks to the ambience would...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to give this restaurant a try after stumbling upon a video on Instagram showcasing its dishes. The footage had us brimming with excitement, and we couldn't wait to experience it ourselves. However, our anticipation quickly turned to dismay upon seeing that our actual meals bore no resemblance to the mouthwatering visuals. The chicken katsu, for instance, was disappointingly thick—a bulky chunk of chicken that lacked the thinness it is known for. The rice accompanying it was both cold and hard. Then the bang bang shrimp, was excessively battered and oily with disappointingly small shrimps. Regrettably, our dining experience was further ruined by the lack of service from our waitress, who seemed disinterested. She failed to check on us throughout the meal and even forgot to bring our drinks. While we understand that oversights can happen, her nonchalant response, accompanied by a casual giggle and a dismissive "my bad," only served to demonstrate her...
