El Taco Loco Mexican Taqueria — Restaurant in Sturgis

On December 17, 2022. At 4:45 pm. I called the restaurant business phone number to place an order to go. Lady answers the phone I place my order for 12 tacos and explain my family's allergy problem with onion. (Except for me) so requested onion totally separate from all other food. They say it's fine they wil meet my needs and will take 30 minutes for everything to be ready. I drive to the restaurant after waiting 30 minutes, and as I get there the man at the cash register asked " Are you here for a pick up order?" I answered back with " YES " and he replies ... " We didn't think you were shure you wanted the order so we haven't made it 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. NOTE. (I never called back or mentioned i didnt want the order) They made me wait another 20 minutes while they prepared my food and when it came down to pay I checked immediately to make sure they put everything in the bag and didn't forget any of my requests. And of course they mixed in the onion that was requested to be separate from all other food. So I requested the young man to exchange my food. And with much attitude he did. It was about 5:37 when i came down to pay. This was on the sturgis location located at 105 s. On maple street. Almost an hour for a to go order. No manager on sight for a resolution. Very bad ice on parking lot. Very poor parking lot maintenance. I give this restaurant 0 stars if I could but it will only let me select 1 at minimum. I won't ever be returning to Taco Loco after that. I Do not recommend to any friend or family or even strangers that I've...

First off , the food was actually 4.5 stars, it was very good. The service on the other hand was 2 stars.

The food will allow a second chance, maybe it was an off day for service. The building looks as if it was a former bank. The front 1/3 is still occupied by a law firm. This is why the entrance to the restaurant is located on the side of the building. When we entered there were no signs saying to wait or find a table. So we waited in the long line for the cashier (there were alot of pick-up orders). Once we got to the cashier I asked for a table, he said I could stand to the side until one was cleaned. We waited for about 8 minutes, there were multiple empty spots but all were unclear with the plates from the previous occupants.

Once a table was cleared or order was taken in about 10 minutes. The food arrived 20 minutes after that. It took another 5 to 8 minutes to get some utensils. After that we never saw the waitress again. No drink refills or the check.

After eating we waited awhile and eventually went to the cashier to checkout. He had to locate a bill for us.

It looked like a family run business with the parents in the kitchen and the children as the staff. We could have caught them on a bad day, but the service was very bad. The food was very good... so one more chance is in order.

i ordered out from el taco loco today and i was beyond impressed by both the food and service. i got the quesa birria and originally, i thought the price of the tacos were a bit expensive but i would say it was COMPLETELY worth the price. the tacos comes with 3 sides of vegetables (carrots, onions, and caramelized onions), consume, and a mild salsa. the tacos were sooo meaty, maybe could use a little more cheese but overall, super filling and delicious. i always fear tacos won’t fill me up but they definitely did this time. the consume was super flavourful but not completely overpowering and the sides were SO YUMMY?? they were a little tangy and cooked super well. my food was packed in a bag that had my name and a smiley face next to it. the tacos themselves were packed tightly so they remained hot as well. the entire packing of my food made me feel like i was getting a home cooked lunch from my mom again, really the best service. thanks...
