I posted this on the Wings, Etc. website but feel this site will give a wider audience my thoughts.
I go to the Sturgis, MI Wings, Etc. location a couple times a month and have discovered that you have one of the best servers I have encountered at any restaurant. Peter is a personable man, very attentive to the needs of his customers, going above and beyond the call of duty. For example, I always get a glass of ice water with my coffee so I can put a few cubes in the coffee such that I can drink it immediately. I asked for a spoon and explained why. Not only did he bring me a spoon, he brought a small bowl of ice so that I didn't even need to dip into the glass of water. There's a fine line between the obsequious bootlicker of a waiter who seems to reappear every 15 seconds to inquire about your needs to those who bring the food and then show up again only when summoned for the check. He resides in that small area in the middle where those two extremes are balanced perfectly. He's nice, always smiling, and seems to care about connecting with and pleasing the customer. In other words, he's your ideal employee. You have a treasure there, don't lose him if you can avoid that disaster. After my initial pleasure in dealing with Peter, I will continue to ask to be seated in his area every time. If he asks for a $1 raise, give him $2 so as not...
Read moreFirst I would like to say that I've enjoyed Wings Etc. at every location I've been to thus far. It's pretty good, as far as chains go, and makes for an excellent (superior?) competitor to Bdubs (which I do also like, in full disclosure). One thing I like, aside from the size of your wings, is how you handle the sauce. You definitely aren't shy. Also, I made a point of going to other wings restaurants (and bars that happened to serve them) and see just how hot their hottest sauces are. Having been able to handle all of them at least well enough, I took on the Wall of Flame challenge. God. Damn. Your hottest sauce isn't so much a murder of the competition but a genocide. And here I thought I had enough hair on my chest. I'll have to get back to that challenge someday, when I've built up a more manly immunity.
As for this specific location, thank you. I was visiting Sturgis and wanted to try its local flavor, so I started out across the street. No one there acknowledged me at all, and after at least 15 minutes I left. Your restaurant, on the other hand, ackowledged me right away. The food was provided quickly, the beer (and a much larger variety on tap at that) served in nice frosty mugs, and even pleasant conversation was thrown in there....
