Mason's Grill & Smokehouse — Restaurant in Suffolk

First of all let me begin by saying it hurts me to even write this. We have been loyal patrons of Mason's ever since the day they opened their doors. We kept overlooking the areas they locked in because the food was good. But unfortunately over time the place has gone downhill. The past 4-5 times we have gone, the food takes astronomically long to get out of the kitchen. We went last night at 4:30PM, well before the dinner rush, when there were maybe 3 other tables and a few people at the bar. It took at least 35-40 minutes just to get our brisket and pork nachos appetizer, that cost $20 and came out cold and 80% chips, and all of the brisket was nothing but fatty pieces. The service is typically always bad recently. Our server last night did not check on us a single time after we received our appetizer and food and me and my daughters drinks sat empty the last half of the time we were there. I will say my husband's wings were good and so was my chicken sandwich, it was very tasty but took forever to come out. My daughter got the children's chicken bites and fries, and it seemed odd to me that she was not interested in eating them at all when they are usually really good. We took them home and I reheated them the next day in the air fryer, only to discover that they changed them from white meat to dark thigh meat on the down low thinking no one would notice?? The texture was rubbery and slimy and just not good. What child wants a THIGH meat nugget. This was just the cherry on top for all the corners I have been noticing they are cutting. Horrible! Took 45 minutes to get our food with only 2 other tables there. Everyone, including kitchen staff were all crowded around the bar watching football. We ordered a $20 brisket & pork nachos appetizer without jalapenos. It came loaded with them. (It was clear the waitress took back to the kitchen and just picked them off. Disgusting! But we didn't say anything.) Then the recommended Sampler platter came, had 4 "slices" of beef brisket. First photo shows two were ALL fat! The pulled pork was so dry we had to drown it in sauce. The other order was a beef brisket sandwich, 2nd photo shows the huge pile of fat beside the meat where I had to separate it. When the waitress came (finally) to bring our bill, I showed her the piles of fat from both and I was going to say something about the appetizer but she took the bill and waived it by and said... I'll give you a discount. She came back...our $103. bill had $2.25 taken off. I really wasn't asking for a discount, I wanted to express my concern and dislike. I understand meat has fat, but when you order sliced beef brisket, those slices shouldn't be totally fat! With the length of time we waited, we counted over 9 different people going in and out of the kitchen, clearly not staff, and coming back out with food. I hope the owner(s) read this. I had the worst experience here last night. My sister and I sat at a table and was greeted by a lady with green hair who asked for our drink orders. My sister ordered an alcoholic beverage and I ordered water. The lady disappeared into the back with my sisters ID and never returned. The ABC manager returned with my sisters ID letting us know that the original lady did not know what a Texas ID should look like. We then waited a very long time for our drinks but eventually the ABC manager returned with my sisters drink and minutes later a male employee returned with my water. No one took our food orders. We were forgotten about until I asked an off duty waitress to please send our waitress, (the lady with the green hair who still had not returned to our table). The off duty waitress ended up taking our orders and served us our food. The entire time we sat and ate no one came to see if we were ok, needed refills on drinks or ask if we were ready for our bill. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant or bar. I want to send many thanks to the off duty waitress that did help us on her time off when she definitely did not have to. I am still completely shocked by the service we received.
