May 31,2024 @ 12 midnight I brought my daughter to the ER with symptoms of Esophagitis “something stuck in her throat “esophagus. I over heard the nurse tell a co worker that the doctor ordered several testing. I then ask to speak with the charge nurse and I explained to her my daughters symptoms and told her I took her to Belle Harbor on May 25,2024 with these same symptoms and she have had those same tests done and they were negative. And it was pointless to perform the same test when you all are using the same electronic medical records software. Can I request an esophageal test instead. The charge nurse states that first choice would be the x-Ray at this time. A nasal swab was administered as well as Covid testing. A CBC was ordered for mono. A chest and neck x-ray ordered. After waiting 3 hrs and walking around to see no one at the nurse station I pressed the call alert button to get some clarity. And speak to the charge nurse. She walks out of the back room with glassy red eyes as if she was sleeping. I ask why haven’t the doctor nor nurse came in the room to give us any updates. She states the doctor whom I’ve never met was waiting on the radiologist to read the report and it will take longer than expected because they didn’t have an in house radiologist and they would read it once they apparently wake up in the middle of the morning! By that time I’m very annoyed. So as she’s apologizing I”m asking her so are you really telling me that there’s no radiologist working in the hospital? She states no they’re working from home and they’ll get to the report soon . I then ask for the doctor and my daughters test results ?! She states that the doctor will come once she gets the full report . By this time it’s 4:30 a.m . No doctor, a nurse walks by I ask her where’s everyone and what I’ve experienced this morning was unacceptable. When I brought my child here at 12 a.m it was only two patients here and it has been two more . Why haven’t I seen the doctor yet. I walk away outside to gather my thoughts and console my composure. My daughter then text me saying a nurse new number just came and brought her discharge paperwork . I walked back in and read the diagnosis and ask who made these diagnosis because after 5 hrs of being here I’ve never seen a doctor she start Dr.Lindborg diagnosed her with a acute upper respiratory infection. I said huh where did she get this diagnosis from and why didn’t she come in to speak with me. I haven’t seen her since I checked my child in at 12 midnight now it’s 5 a.m. what were her results? Well I didn’t see any results but she made the diagnosis and I can have her come speak to you. I’m furious and very frustrated about our healthcare system nowadays. Being that I work in the healthcare system this experience is awful. I honestly don’t believe this kind of treatment should be allowed as a medical facility nor professional. My daughter came and left with the same symptoms no medication was given only prescribed naproxen and benzonate for a falsified diagnosis of a respiratory infection. I really feel discriminated against. Some things has to get better . I am a part of your team. Please address my concerns and show support and consideration if accuracy and integrity of who you are as a...
Read moreUPDATED: I returned to this emergency room 5 years later. Dr told me symtoms required it. I've spent a fair amount of time in emergency room. I was a kid, then I had kids and then I got old. This place has a serious problem with processing out. Once you've been diagnosed and released by the doctor , nurse ratchet takes control ,then comes the lobby treatment. Minimum 2 1/2 hours to leave. I've never been treated so rudely but I'm beginning to see a pattern in the whole Sentara network and I'm pretty sure it's my insurance..Medicare A & B. Initial processing is good, but if you ain't dying and have basic insurance, you'll wish for an end. I would not recommend. This was an interesting experience in medical care. I arrived at about 11:30 a.m. Because I had woken up in the middle of the night having severe chest pains I went back to sleep but when I woke up I was just oriented had a headache and felt out of balance. I decided I'm maybe I should go to the hospital. They were very polite, they they drew blood, then they put me in the waiting room. About About an hour and they took some X-rays. Then return to me to the waiting area. I kept falling asleep and it was very cold. After about three and a half hours it began to occur to me that I must not have had a heart attack because it seemed impossible that a hospital would leave a heart attack patient unattended in a Lobby for 3 and 1/2 hours with another two-hour wait ahead. At this point I thought it would be best to go home go to bed and see if I felt better next day. That's when things got weird, they they wouldn't take my insurance information and told me I was refusing service. I explained I was refusing nothing but that I was extremely tired and very cold and really needed to lay down. I pointed out to them as long as I have been there it was apparent that I wasn't as sick as I thought I was and it would be best if I could lay down and sleep for a while. The nurse confirmed that my EKG was normal. I explained I would follow up with a doctor but really needed to lay down so I was going home. They told me I was refusing service and my insurance wouldn't pay. This was a panic moment for me. Eventually they agreed to take my information but reiterated I was refusing service. I pointed out I was refusing nothing and it was apparent I wasn't as sick as I felt because no medical care provider would leave a heart attack victim in a lobby for that long. Right? I also pointed out that if I did have a heart attack I would probably have another one and if I lived through it, we could try again. They were pleasant enough but I'm figuring they must be terribly understaffed. Although I did see other people come in and be taken to the back within minutes of their arrival. I'm sure they have a plan and a system but I figure if I didn't die I must be okay. I would probably recommend that if you have what appears to be a heart attack call an ambulance and let the EMT...
Read moreI was scheduled to have my baby there. I went there on a Friday because i wanted to see if my water broke. They gave me a negative, for the remainder of that day and Saturday I was in a small amount of pain an I was having a lot of leakage. I went to my OB/GYN on Sunday and she confirmed that my water had indeed broken so she sent me to this hospital. When I arrived they put me in out patient even though I was scheduled, then quickly but me in a regular room once they saw the error in their ways. When I was checked they said my water was broken for at least 36 hrs meaning, when I came in the first time, my water did break. I was, then, in labor for 3 more days. Fast forward to my baby being out of my body, they were helping me breastfeed for the first time. The woman in charge of that was squeezing my daughter's face way too hard and forcing her onto my nipple in a rough manner. When I was put in a different room, the nurses at the nursery were very sketchy, they weren't very friendly either. The older nurse that was assigned to her at the time tried to stick her finger in my daughter's mouth, which is pushing the boundaries. She treated me like I was stupid, and her and my mother bumped heads quite a lot. Another brunette nurse was assigned to her later in the day she hated me coming into the nursery for some reason. She kept telling me to go in the back room, to leave the nursery, it was like she didn't want me to be in there with my child. Her father and I also witnessed how they handled the babies which was anything but gentle. I forgot to mention earlier that they almost killed both me and my daughter when I was in labor. Both of our heart beats were dangerously low because of whatever they gave me. Lastly, the doctors that helped with the delivery had one major rule, only nurses with the blue thingy on their name tag could touch the baby. On the first few nights after my daughter was born, she woke up in the middle of the night, a lot. Being an amateur, I was always insanely tired and desperate for her to go back to sleep. The only way she fell asleep was when she was laying on my chest, I fell asleep like that (not on purpose of course) but she was completely safe. I woke up to the nurse that gave me my meds trying to grab her then she had the audacity to day I can't sleep with my baby. They also kept trying to give me perks even though I repeatedly refused it. I chose ibuprofen, but the tried repeatedly to give slip the perks in with my hourly meds. Don't got to this place for any vital problems, or for...
