Jim's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Summerville

This place was NOT good. We stopped in one evening expecting good home cooking. Sorry, but it didnt happen. My Fiance ordered a steak, it was primarily grissle (at 15.99, he was highly disappointed). I ordered grilled chicken, it was BEYOND discusting. It was completely flattened, and majorly grissly. The baked potato was burnt..TWICE. the salad bar was dirty and they WERE NOT busy, so there was no excuse for that. Employees were are standing behind the salad bar chatting and being lazy. Only one waitress was working, and doing the work for the rest of them. This place advertises themselves as Jims Family Restaurant. Well, "Jim" doesnt even exist, as i overheard another customer ask about who Jim even is. And home cooking? Not unless u love everything microwaved and being charged triple what its worth. There are toooo many restaurants nowadays that advertise the "home cooking" slogan, when their food is discusting. Good, wholesum, home cooked food is FRESH, CLEAN, AND DOESNT HAVE TO COST A FORTUNE TO FIX. I cook daily, and am a country cook. So, that being said, bring me a thoroughly cooked baked potato that isnt burnt and clean up that dern salad bar. Get r done yall, make it happen or take down ur homecooking sign. People like us...

To be honest I was a little surprised at first, let me explain. Walked in and you could tell that this place is plain and simple. On the door it says no credit cards or debit cards. And the decor is dated. However it gets better. Asked a few questions about the breakfast bar and the girl wasn't really friendly however my wife and I decided to stay and order off the menu. Menu prices are fare and the variety of choices isn't to bad. My wife ordered scrambled eggs light, bacon crisp, with a pancake. I ordered the western omelette with toast. To our surprise the order was perfect in every way and the food was great. Total check with drinks and all right at $17.00 .... So the old sane don't judge a book by its cover is right. We will be back and will bring friends with us next time. Try it out and give them a chance I don't believe you will be disappointed. And hopefully the young girl was just having a bad day, let's give her another chance. ENJOY I...

We just left from our first visit. Let me start with we arrived 30 minutes before closing as we were driving through on our way home to Bremen ga. Sent my husband in to make sure they were ok with us coming in so late. Thankfully they were because we drive by often to see family in Lafayette but never have time to stop to grab a bite to eat.

I’m so glad they said yes. Their food was AMAZING. Hubby and I had the ribeye and grilled shrimp. Cooked perfectly Med Rare. Juicy steak and their fully stocked salad bar.

Their staff was so warm and welcoming. Clean environment as well. I see us coming back more and planning more time just so we can make a stop to eat in the future.

Thank you Kensley for being extremely informative on your menu and specials. Our food was out within 15 minutes maybe a little less.

All in all a wonderful place to eat with family and highly recommend others...
