The bagels are fantastic, the customer service, not so much. I ordered 9 bagels and two containers of veggie cream cheese online for pickup. I arrived to pick up my order and the bag was stapled shut so confirmed the cream cheese was in there with the cashier and she insisted it was. Got home to my hungry guests, opened the bag and there was no cream cheese. At $17 for two containers, I immediately called and was told by the woman on the phone that she put my order together and was the one who gave it to me and insisted there was one container of cream cheese on top. I told her I was staring right at, as were my guests, and there was no cream cheese with my order. Not to mention she said there was one container, she saw it herself, even though I ordered two. She said she can refund me for one and I said I wanted to be refunded for both since I didn’t receive any and she hung up on me. Hoping we had just gotten disconnected somehow I called back, no answer, called back again, no answer. So my husband called from his phone and someone answered. They told him the cream cheese (again one, not two) was in the bag and they already refunded me for one. My husband assured them we did not receive any cream cheese and why would we call and lie about it?? They said they can’t do another refund on the same transaction but if we come in they’ll give us two containers of cream cheese. I believe the employee saw cream cheese in a bag, I’m not accusing her of lying like they did to us, but I don’t think it was my order she saw it in. So eventually we went back to the store, spoke to a manager who didn’t seem to care, didn’t apologize for the mixup and now we have two containers of cream cheese but it’s too late because everyone was hungry and ate their bagels before we got back. I don’t appreciate being accused of lying and trying to refund me for only half of what I was missing. Not at...
Read moreWe have always loved Ruby‘s Bagels and as Midtown residents we were ecstatic to see one built in Nexton!
We are regulars at both the Dorchester and West Ashley locations. We had limited to weekends due to how far they both are from us. We prefer the West Ashley location as it is the most spacious.
While we all know that a company has to make the best out of the square footage given there is a lot of room for improvement here.
Given the amount of people, our first concern would be the layout. Both the layout at West Ashley and Nexton are far from ideal based on how crowded they get. The best breakfast locations rope off the line to wait and have more efficient pickup systems, (give a table number and bring it out), better accessibility when grabbing utensils in a crowd; napkins on the table; and keep bottled drinks behind the counter—we had to ask 3 people to move just to open the fridge door.
Secondly, the majority of the tables appear to very, very, VERY, wobbly. There should be zero reason for the tables at this brand new location to be so wobbly! We watched some poor lady get snagged on the hip by a table and turned it a full 90 degrees due to the lack of space and unstable tables.
As far as the food: the SEC bagel was barely warm, (the Dorchester location is the only location out of the 3 that heats up to an ideal temperature), and hash browns were still partly frozen! The hash browns were corrected with the manager, who brought out new ones. As far as the SEC bagel, we resigned to escaping the chaotic crowd and heating it up at the house.
As mentioned before; there is much room for improvement. We are extremely hopeful that these are merely growing pains, but will wait a bit before visiting again...
Read moreDO NOT ORDER HERE! THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY! I will not be ordering from here again. I placed an online order, as I have done before, to pick up on my way to work. I called 23 minutes after placing it to cancel my order because my car broke down. I was told that because the food was already made it would not be refunded. I explained that my car broke down so I didn’t know until just now that I wouldn’t be able to pick up my order. She said she’d have to talk to her manager and find out if it could be refunded and hung up on me. I called back after 15 minutes and then I was told that I only had 20 minutes to cancel my order from placing it, and apparently I was 3 minutes too late. I asked to speak to a manager, but apparently there wasn’t one available. It’s very frustrating to be told there’s nothing they can do and almost petty to be told I was 3 minutes late in calling. This place basically just stole money I could’ve been using towards my car bills. I’d understand if they were even willing to give a partial refund, because it was already made, but to be given no refund is very petty. I know it doesn’t cost them that much to make these bagels, I’m sure they have the funds to give either a whole or partial refund, especially if it’ll keep they’re customers happy. That’s just turning away regulars which is very upsetting. I’d give this place 0 stars if I could. I definitely will not be wasting any...
