Mi Promesa Authentic Mexican Food — Restaurant in Sumter

I had seen a TikTok for this place, which initiated us going. I didn’t know they had gained an establishment spot so we were definitely excited to try it. We first tried the food when they had their food truck out at USCS/farmers market area. It was absolutely amazing then and even more so being able to sit down and enjoy their food. The atmosphere was very clean, organized, and cultured. Service was extremely friendly and prompt. Our server was upbeat, smiling, and greeted us vibrantly. The food was presented and served to us in a very picturesque way. It was brought to our table hot and fresh. We ordered a variety of food as there were 6 of us. There were 2 burrito options chosen with our order and they were both MASSIVE burritos and each came with fries. I do wish there was more seasoning on the fries because the ones the were seasoned well were amazing but also, not so bad without it either just preferable to the seasoning. There was a quesabirrias w/consume option chosen with our order as well and I would absolutely recommend/order it every time. I’ve personally had my fair share birria tacos during my life in San Antonio, Tx and I have to say the ones they serve are as authentic and flavorful as they come. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Tried ordering 6 quesadillas( 3 orders of 2 with fries) and was charged for 6 separate plates at 113$ instead of the like 55$ we usually pay. I knew something must of been wrong when they made us pay on the phone and we’ve never had to do that before. We’ve eaten there before and that’s never happened. Then when I explained to the girl that’s not what I wanted she just looked at me and said “it wasn’t?” Then finally got someone. The lady who refunded us was very helpful. She was the assistant manager who helped us. Then once I get home I see that they completely forgot our queso and chips we ordered so then I had to drive all the way back to get it. That ruined our experience with this place and will not be returning. Such a shame because it was so good...

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5) The food at Mi Promesa is absolutely out of this world! We ordered the Cubana torta, carne asada tacos, and birria fries, along with chips and multiple salsas to try—and every single bite was packed with flavor. The quality and taste of the dishes alone would easily earn five stars. That said, the service left a lot to be desired. Our drinks sat empty for long stretches, we never received napkins, and even after asking, silverware was never brought to the table. It felt like the staff wasn’t very attentive, which unfortunately took away from what could have been a perfect dining experience. If you’re going for the food, it’s 100% worth it—but be prepared to overlook the service. With a little more care on that front, this place could...
