Thai Tea Sumter — Restaurant in Sumter

Been coming to Sumter for appointments over the last year and often come by for a bubble tea. Saw the rolled ice cream and thought how neat it would be to bring my young children and husband back for the experience. We finally made it for that purpose today! We got two rolled ice creams to share (the kids are young enough that this works still). We enjoyed watching the process but one of the ladies making one of them only managed to roll the ice cream tight enough to fit 4 rolls in the container while the other fit 5. They both measured out what they were using. I asked about what would be done with all the leftovers from the first one and she said they they throw it away. I asked if she could just give it to us (it was end of the day and just us present.) She said, “I could, but…” and then proceeds to walk it to the trashcan and throw it away. Considering that the second one made had 5 rolls and no leftovers I definitely feel as though they tossed 20% of what we paid for. Not to mention they knew we were planning to share with the kids. Edit: legit gave this place 5 stars, however, today Dec 2nd 2023 I went to go get my tea. I sat at the window for about 15 mins there was a girl who legit was standing off to the side talking to someone. She made eye contact with me and everything and then turned her back.. now it’s been a few since I came here so maybe that’s the new policy or something but like… she legit looked at me.. if they weren’t taking orders or something I wish she would have said something. Now ik what you’re thinking. You’re probably thinking I got there late… no it was 5:30pm I sat there till about 5:48 because I really wanted that tea.. again it’s not like she didn’t know I was here she legit looked at me. I was shook, they are usually nice. I just drove off. It’s sad I really liked this place. Like why wouldn’t you just open the window or have a note or something saying you can’t take orders because that’s the only reason I can think of her not even coming to the window. Even then!! I’m so confused.. I really like this place.. I don’t want to have to find a new place but that really kind of made me upset.

This cafe is absolutely adorable. The menu has many options, the staff is friendly, and the environment is welcoming.

I ordered honeydew rolled ice cream and pineapple boba tea with mango pearls. They were both quite delicious. However, the sizes are quite large, so I do NOT recommend ordering both, because I felt quite ill after eating half of the ice cream (too much sugar, and I wasn't drinking enough water). I couldn't finish the boba until the following day. (Note: at least with my boba order, if you strain out the ice cubes and put the pearls into a seperate bag, and then putting the pearls back in when you are ready to drink it completely works to save the tea for later. It tasted the exact same when I finished it the next day).

I'm sad I live so far away from this cafe (like, 4 hours) because I would absolutely be a regular if I lived closer.
