O MA GAWD! Roberto’s Cantina was so good! To start with the vibe of Murphy Street and Roberto’s Cantina as a whole was just spectacular. The food was even better. First they bring out a heap of chips with a red and green salsa. The green salsa might be one of the best salsas I have ever had. I just couldn’t stop eating it! So fresh and tasty made from tomatillos. The main meal the birria de res WAS 🔥. It seemed very authentic and there was an abundance of tender beef in the tasty broth. It went so well with the fresh tortillas they gave and the Mexican rice. You have to get the birria just cause of that phenomenal broth with so much complexity it was a little spicy but not too much and it was quite salty and rich. Then to cut all the fattiness out we had to get some flan😉 which was jaw dropping. The flan was so creamy and so sweet. The bottom of the flan was the best part for me it was soft and had a nice milky texture. The flan also definitely had some condensed milk in it which made it even creamier. The service was ok everyone was kind but no one was paying that much attention to us or anything special. OVERALL I would definitely come again for that food and vibe and I recommend it to...
Read moreRoberto's is a great local Mexican restaurant in downtown Sunnyvale. The location is great as there are often events just outside on Murphy street which makes Roberto's a great food stop during the event.
The food is quite tasty and authentically Mexican. My personal favorite is the Rajitas Poblanas with Chicken. It has a good heat to it but is not overwhelming - just spicy enough to make my nose a bit runny. I also really enjoy the Pollo Al Xocoqui, it's not as spicy as the Rajitas Poblanas but the sauce is very flavorful and chicken is very well prepared. My fiancee is also a fan of the Nachos and recently ordered the Toastada which she enjoyed but thought was a bit too small so worth ordering a 2nd item on the combination with that one.
The service is hit or miss. Sometimes the food is out incredibly fast but as they all handle all the tables as a group, sometimes it can be a long while to get a drink refill or pay your bill once your done. Overall though, the staff are always friendly and the food quality is good. Definitely can recommend stopping by this location if you're in the area and enjoy authentic...

Went here for dinner with a group of friends and we really enjoyed the food. We got a pitcher of the Mango Margarita to share; I tried a sip and it was perfect. Just the right amount of alcohol and so good you'd want to finish the entire thing yourself! I ordered the Shrimp Fajitas (replaced the rice and beans with a mixed green salad), which was just beautiful! Perfectly seasoned, shrimp was cooked just right, and there was a really good ratio of vegetables to the shrimp. I really appreciate how there were actual veggies in here - broccoli and carrots - as compared to just the bell peppers that most places serve. Only negative part was that there was too much oil; I had to pat it down with paper towels. Really good meal!
The others ordered a fish enchilada to share (absolutely loved that one; spice level was on point, and fish cooked just right) as well as the Mole; This mole was slightly disappointing though and felt...
