What's special about Tia Juana was that we were welcomed with a smile and both food and service were a killer. Located at the corner of a strip mall, it's a little gem in Sunnyvale and a haven of delicious food and pleasant service. The restaurant was decorated with large mural paintings with bold colors, embedding a strong element of Mexican culture. The vibe was vivid and affable with clean and comfortable setting. We ordered a combo plate of tostada and enchiladas and a burrito. My Tostada was excellent with crispy tasted carnitas, fresh veggies and various cheeses. I was curious about the white soft crumbling cheese spreaded on Tostada and found out later from web search that it's younger Cotija cheese. The Cotija was mild, unlike pungent Feta, although similar in looks when crumbled. And I really liked it. The combination of everything in Tostada that captivated my taste buds and heart. It was the best version I've had. Enchiladas was full of meat of my choice- shredded beef which was tender, juicy and full of flavors. The corn tortilla, soaked in red chilli sauce added extra layer of savory. I felt like eating home-made meal. The combo plate was large at a reasonable price ($15), totally blew me away with its quality. They charge for salsa and chips and serve Menudo on weekends. Highly recommend Tia Juana and would love...
Read moreSometimes we want something different for lunch like Mexican food near work in Sunnyvale, Tia Juan Cantina is our favorite place. It’s a walking distance from my work, in the a small shopping center with many ethnic restaurants for people to choose. The restaurant is small but the tables laid out efficiently, not cramped at all. If you came later than 11:30, chances are you have to wait with more than 2 people. The prices are reasonable and the portions are plentiful. I love the crispy chips and salsa freshly made. You can have a la cart or combo plates for lunch average about $13 and you’ll be full for the rest of the work day. My favorite are the big burritos, chile relleno, taco and enchilada, they’re so tasty and flavorful. We’ve always enjoyed our food here every time. The waitresses are very attentive and efficient, serve very quickly because they do need the throughput since many people are often waiting, no rush by any means. The parking lot is shared but you can always find a space on a...

It's pretty darn spicy, so obviously I freaking love it. But let's talk about the food: Most of the stuff that I've gotten here has always been fantastic. Actually, I can't think of anything that I ever got that I didn't like, but it's kind of hard not to like Mexican food, because c'mon, let's be real, it's essentially all the same stuff. Burritos, Fajitas, Tacos, man, it's all great.
ANYWAY! Last time I was here, I got the Burrito Mojado, or well, it's called Special Burrito for all you babies, but those who know, oh they know, that it is indeed the wettest of Burritos. But it was super good, and then you slather it in that oh so delicioso Orange Soss, and you are in heaven! Make sure you get plenty of waters though, cuz you gonna be in pain, baby!
However, the prices have come up quite a bit, so that's a bit saaaaaaaaaaaaaad :'( Oh well, what're'ya gonna...
