My friend took me to a local neighborhood restaurant. They have free heated chips and a salsa bar for their customers. Their house salsa is so good, I could of just sat there and drank it in a mug. The salsa is chunky and herbaceous. What I really like is that the onion in the salsa is chopped in small cubes rather than huge insulting pieces.
The restaurant is always busy. I always look to see who the restaurants clients are. If I am going to an ethnic restaurant I hope to see more ethnic customers. It usually is an indication that it will be a good experience. In this case, there were primarily Hispanic clientele, Their menu is extensive. I found their food to be authentic not Tex-Mex or Californian style. Their food is what your Nana would cook for her family. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I ordered a Super Carne Asada burrito it was huge. The Carne Asada was chopped into little pieces and there absolutely no fat or gristle to be found. It was quite flavorful. I ate half of the burrito and saved the rest for another meal. I brought my service dog Cookie so I wanted to order some chicken for her. The owner was so generous he gave me a plate full of shredded chicken at no charge. I tasted the chicken to ensure it was not too spicy. It was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. Cookie almost did not get the chicken. I wanted to keep it for myself. I definitely will order a chicken dish for myself in the future. Cookie devoured it. I ordered two bean and cheese burritos for two lunches. These burritos were absolutely huge and delicious. I ended cutting them in half because they were so big. I can not wait to go back and try their shrimp tacos, menudo, and shrimp soup. In closing, I highly recommend this...
Read moreThe salsas make this place! Look, the food is good but it's not great. Sometimes I find really hard pieces of rice among the softer fluffier bits and feel like I'm going to chip a tooth but it's 100% worth it because that tough piece of rice comes with the nicest salsas north of Brownwood Texas. I'm a vegetarian and there are plenty of options, but I'm really just there for the sauces so I get a side of beans and a side of rice for $3.27. that comes with chips and salsa from the salsa bar too. I can't even finish my food for less than two disgusting items from taco Bell. Another bonus is that it is right next to Scotty's laundromat so if you want to wash some clothes and get a snack you get a great way to spend your wash cycle. My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and was really happy with it. The tortilla was just right and grilled and it was stuffed with delightful things. I know I already said this but I love the salsas!!!! The pineapple habanero one is my very favorite. The red one is super spicy and keeps my stomach warm for four hours. The green one has a great flavor and the Chipotle is everything you would expect. There are also a variety of mixed vegetable pickles and fresh cilantro pickled onions limes and...
Read moreAn unassuming taqueria next to the Chavez Mexican Market in Sunnyvale. We were in the mood for some comfort Mexican food and so glad to have found this place. The menu is extensive. They have colorful photos of selected items in the wall, which definitely helps people who don’t speak Spanish. We ordered an enchilada plate with three different types of enchiladas, a wet burrito, and a birria plate (a beef stew in red sauce). It’s a casual place. You order the food at the cashier and they will bring the food to the table you choose to sit down. No tips were required. The price was very reasonable, the serving size was huge, and the foods were all tasty, definitely hitting the spot. My daughter loved the chorizo enchilada so much that she ordered a second serving. They also have complimentary self-served tortilla chips and different types of salsa. The chili oil was surprisingly aromatic but mildly hot, and we would add it to anything to spice it up. The red and green salsa were also very good. Some other popular items we noticed were the shrimp cocktails served with Mexican beers. The service staff were very friendly and patient. We are so glad we have found our favorite Mexican restaurant in Sunnyvale, “Three...
