OMGOSH!!!! This place is absolutely AMAZING!!!! We were close by visiting family and saw the great reviews abs why not enjoy some good food. Needless to say we we quickly found out why people love this place. It’s a small restaurant but it’s both intimate and large enough to host many parties. We ordered our food and our server (Mario) was absolutely amazing. We scouted the menu and made our choices. The biste empalizado was a great portion as well as delicious. The chicharrones de pollo were excellent. All of our food tasted fresh, delicious and the portions were an excellent size. The maduros were also delicious and the rice and black beans were awesome.
Tuesday & Friday special is oxtail and it’s great. Funny story my wife loves oxtail but she didn’t see the special and ordered something different. When we finished our meal and she saw what the special was was bummed she didn’t try it out. Our server was so kind. He brought us a small sample for us so she can try it. Needless to say this is the reason why this place does as amazing as it does. What a kind gesture. We’ll...
Read moreWanted to eat some Cuban food and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the grilled chicken whom the guy stated it was a grouper but tasted nothing like a grouper. Not only that it was very salty and soggy. My girlfriend ordered the grilled chicken and it was loaded with onions and also very salty. To top it all off, we were charged $25 for half of a carafe of Sangria costing more than both the grilled chicken and and grilled fish combined. The price of the half of a carafe of Sangria is not listed on their menu and they have a responsibility to let people know the price. We left most of the Sangria because the wine used tasted very cheap like Manischewitz. I wouldn’t have minded paying $25 for the Sangria if it was worth it. I barely touched my food. The waiter was overly nice but I found him very annoying. By the way, I specifically chose this restaurant because I wanted to support a local and family owned restaurant during these hard times but walked away feeling robbed. Needless to say I will never go back...
Read moreGreat expectations! Sorely disappointed! Food was average although I’ve had much better Ropa Vieja. Too much fat and juice. We read the portions were huge but not so much. The rice was a huge portion as was the yuca, both fried and boiled, but the main course was in a small dish with the aforementioned fat and juice. Feeling we wanted to experience a variety of items, we ordered a empanada appetizer for $1.75. We were served 3, 2 more than we expected and we thought “what a deal for $1.75.When we got the bill, we saw we were charged $5.25. We questioned the owner and he told us that he had brought us a “portion”. I asked for the menu to see if it said 3 in a portion. When I challenged the owner that we had only ordered one he dismissed it by laughing it off and saying he had made a mistake though he didn’t adjust the check. We paid the bill and gave our tip to the busboy. We hope he was allowed to keep it. There are many Cuban restaurants in this area; find...
