Hard pass. Much better options within a two minute walk in either direction.
For context, I'm a 25 year homeowner on the next block. We usually get breakfast sandwiches out five or six times a summer but hadn't been in here for a couple of years until today.
An egg wrap and avocado toast took literally 40 minutes to come out. I got a quick shrug and was told they were super busy even tough there was only one couple ahead of me and one take out pick up in that time. They should have told us up front if the wait was truly anticipated. Very disrespectful of a customer's time. I would have ordered something else or done my nearby shopping while I waited.
My wrap was fine but my wife's avocado toast was barely toasted and soggy and the egg was cold. Inedible and into the trash it went. We were going to Anchor Market down the street anyway to food shop. She ordered an egg sandwich there and had it hot, properly cooked and in her hands five minutes later.
Prices are also on the high side for LBI - about 1.5x Anchor or the Bagel Shoppe nearby, both of which have better food and service. Lighthouse Deli is also cheaper and is a much nicer space.
Hard pass for me and all of 17th Street...
Read moreI’m sun-allergic but my family adores LBI so here I am..for the 49th summer LOL. We arrived last week and I discovered this place. I show up every morning when they open and the sun is not yet high. I buy breakfast for the entire family: Eggelbagels, a Bayside, two Breakfast Bowls, or variations. Everything perfectly fresh and scrumptious. Ridiculously rich and dense large squares of crumb cake — the last time I had its equal was a half century ago back in Brooklyn. And to echo everyone else, this counter staff is the best feature of all. Kind, accommodating, speedy, and authentically sweet. I think I also ran into the chef or owner or whomever, and he was wonderful and welcoming as well. These people actually offer a professional hospitality trade level vibe for one’s breakfast moment. Healthy choices, indulgent choices, vegetarian and carnivorous choices. You have to go. Tomorrow’s weather predicts a deadly “heat dome” during which I’d usually cower in the basement, but I’ll be there when they...
Read moreWalked in to buy an iced coffee for the first time and patiently waited while two staff members stood behind the counter…Both looked at me a few times. Neither acknowledged - no big deal at first. The young woman was taking an order from a lady. The young man was chatting with a customer who had already completed his order, just small talk on & on….also no big deal. But when the chatty customer left, the young man just turned and walked in the back. I was left standing there for a while with zero acknowledgement, smile, head knod, greeting - nada, nothing! The staff just meandered in the back...Weird experience for a business the depends on customers. Careless and definitly...
