Family Vacation party of 9 with infant. Showed up at 8 and was put on wait list and explained it would be 1 hour. At 915 pm we were seated in 2 different tables instead of being together and explained it was a fire hazard when we were the only table in the entire restaurant. We were told sorry for the wait and appreciate your patience. Seated and were told we will take care of you for understanding. Sat down and seriously nobody else in the establishment. Server came out and said hey guys and during his his introduction said in a goofy manner nobody wanted to wait on yous so I said oh well I'll do it. Then proceeded to take the drink order. Came back with proper amount of drinks. Happens to spill half of them all over my legs. Said sorry ah it's ice. Took about 5 minutes to just attempt to clean up the mess and instead of a mop used a squeegee and then the manager started saying use a mop instead of helping him. Not only was this server over bearing he decided to explain how some Chinese people are buying up a bunch of property to build houses. And how they are tearing down a swim park. And how he and his bros are going to take the sign from the construction site utilizing 10 chainsaws and some trucks. Stood around a bit and started making fun of my older sons hair. Then he stood around some more and attempted to make lite of the situation but honestly just made it worse. Came coming back after dropping of the food and standing around to talk about his past and how he's been a server for ,6 years despite the inexperience on to actually take care of a guest. Missed a meal for a child and explained oh the kitchen must have missed it I'll get that right away. Mean while. We were the only table there. Also was told so how are you gonna pay same check separate check I can split whatever or same 2 cards. How you want it. Honestly had to be there. It was a circus and if you ever worked in the industry you will understand when I say amateur hour all day. Before we even sat down. We ordered 4 drinks from the bar. Took the bartender 10 mins to make bc he was trying to wait on 1 person and attempted to multitask but didn't. Never again will we ever step foot in that establishment. Down hill. Food was salty and other guest complained as well. Even when we were waiting outside. Other guest while leaving said it's empty up there and it's salty too. Also to trump it all. My 2 older children got food poisoning from their food. They were the only ones who ate something specific and that's the only explanation. Terrible. Never...

I was hesitant to eat here because it was far away from my resort, and they were offering discounts from the resort if you patronized the establishment. To my surprise the restaurant was very welcoming. We were seated immediately, and we got a great seat next to another friendly group. Our appetizer was sweet chili shrimp. This appetizer was delicious! Shrimp was well seasoned, good crisp bite and lightly breaded fried crust that broke apart in your mouth. The sauce on the shrimp was great, my kids that don't like to try new things were licking the servicing dish. I ordered the catfish, scallops, hushpuppies and fries. Scallops were addictive, they tasted fresh, not rubbery at all, good fry and well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Hushpuppies were great too, nice crunchy taste that you could break apart in your hand but not to crunchy to create a mess everywhere. Many times it's too much corn meal and pieces of corn and the balance of the hushpuppy is off. This hushpuppy was so good I didn't even need honey butter. I didn't eat my catfish until the next day, but it was so good, along with the scallops I started dancing. Catfish was that good, broke it up by the piece, ate it with sauce then tried it with cocktail sauce and whiskey glaze sauce both were delicious. Honestly, didn't need sauce but I don't like to waste anything. Additional things to note...cocktail sauce, tartar sauce and ketchup were all refrigerated which was great and made them taste fresh. Also, got a sweet tea and that was really good, not overly sweet like most restaurants. Tea was calm and chill with no after taste because they were using fresh tea bags and strainers. Lastly, this was our waitress first day on the job and she was phenomenal, drink always filled, appetizer put in quick so it came out quick, brought additonal honey butter for the hushpuppies I ordered to go...nice southern hospitality. Great restaurant and if you are visiting myrtle beach this...

Went in to place take out orders. 3 orders were placed for 9 people. The waitress/bartender acted like it was an imposition to take our orders despite no customers at the bar. After a 30+ min wait, while watching dine-in customers receive orders placed after ours, 3 bags were placed on the bar. For reasons unknown, the items were not bagged as ordered, i.e. we had to go thru 3 bags to find the items ordered and paid for. When asked for extra creole mayo waitress stated there's an "abundant" amount in the bag. There were absolutely none. Entire entrees were missing from the bags. When informed, she retrieved the item from the kitchen and placed it on the bar without apology. We discovered 3 missing items as we rebagged the items. We had to ask other waitstaff for bags because the waitress ignored us after being informed of the 2nd omitted item. Sadly we got to the house before realizing two additional items were omitted, requiring 2 separate trips to retrieve. Deonte, the manager, and Jennifer another waitress (who said she usually tends bar) were very apologetic and assured us it wasn't the norm. But given the extremely poor service and failure to provide items for which we paid, requiring 2 return trips!, it seems a credit or voucher would have been given. It wasn't. As for the food: Fried green tomatoes were best I've ever had. I so wanted to go back, but couldnt bring myself to go. Steamed shrimp--most were good, but had a few soggy/mushy ones; Sweet potato fries--very good; Wings--undercooked, but tasty when cooked through. Not sure about other's food; the experience left such a bad taste in...

This is my favorite non-buffet restaurant in the Surfside Beach/Myrtle Beach area. You should order the blackened grouper pictured here. It’s juicy and was probably the best grouper I’ve ever had. The Mahi also and catfish also tasted great, although the grouper was the best. My wife ordered a fish sandwich pictured here, which was huge and came with a generous portion of fries. Our children enjoyed the fried pickle chips (as did I). I give credit to our server Daniel, who did excellent work. He kept drinks refilled, constantly smiled, and was just a great person to have. What would I change? Two things to remember: 1. Depending on the time you arrive you may have a long wait. When we arrived the hostess told us it would take an hour to get a table. We decided to wait. It actually took about 5 minutes, but the expectation was there. The last time we went here it took probably 45 minutes to get a seat. 2. The onion rings are good, but not great. I forgot to take a photo. My opinion is that the best onion rings are the biggest and juiciest because they have the most flavor. The onion rings here are mid size. They taste good and I may order them again. It’s just that they could be better. UPDATE: After I posted this review the owner replied I should try the onion rings at River City Cafe. I immediately looked up the menu online. The onion rings are at the top with a photo. They look like giant juicy onion rings—in other words, fabulous. If Bubba’s adopted those onion rings it would have that item set.

I must say that I am impressed with Bubba’s. The service was spot-on, friendly and attentive. We both had the First Mate platter and you choose two items from the list. I had the blackened grouper and fried oysters, my wife had the blackened mahi mahi and fried shrimp. Having spent many years in Florida I’ve come to know good grouper and this one didn’t disappoint. It had the perfect amount of “heat” and the fried oysters were delicious. The mahi mahi was a bit over cooked and dried out, hence the 4 star rating for food. It was just a bit over baked. The shrimp were lightly coated in flour and seasoned perfectly. I was expecting them to come out with a thick coating like pop corn shrimp typically have but these were coated nicely and seasoned perfectly. We both had cups of clam chowder. I was expecting a small cup and when the waitress came out with the soup, it was in large bowls and nice portion sizes. The clam chowder was wonderful. There is free parking in the front lot so don’t pay for parking. Overall we were very pleased with the food even though the mahi mahi was very dry.

We had dinner here tonight. Waited 30 minutes as they were quite busy. Parking can be difficult with the other restaurants close by and golf carts taking up parking spaces for CARS. We started with the fried pickles and the bubbo-lo shrimp and the shrimp were so good. Fried pickles are universal and always good but the shrimp is definitely better of the two. My wife and son split the captains platter along with some clam strips. They loved the blackened mahi-mahi and everything else. I went with the first mates plate and went with the scallops and unicorn fiish. I do wish I had know they were the tiny bay scallops as I'd probably went with the gulf shrimp instead but the unicorn fish was so good. Sweet and flaky and very delicious. The hushpuppies with the honey butter were great too and the coleslaw was just how i like it. Fine cut and sweet. The fries i could do without. My daughter got her usual popcorn shrimp and liked it. We all loved the unicorn fish and love that the drinks come in like a collector type cup.
