My family and I went here for dinner and trivia. We had two waiters who split the work, Meg and Bryan. Bryan was very nice but Meg was our main waitress, and unfortunately I wish it was the other way around. She seemed very disinterested with our table. Some other groups she smiled quite politely to and even gave hugs to, leading me to believe they are regulars. I understand being more friendly with the regulars but not being rude to the non regulars/tourists. She copped a bit of an attitude with us right when we sat down. When our food came out only 2/7 dishes came out and the woman who delivered it said our waitress was right behind her with the rest. Unfortunately that was not true. We had to flag down Bryan to let him know and he apologized and looked into it. We flagged down Meg too as we were told she was the one going to bring our food out and she disinterestedly said that “they were working on it”, meanwhile she wasn’t. Finally more dishes came out and 5/7 had food, but the other 2 plates came out about 10 minutes after the first 2 plates. Unfortunately for members of group the restaurant did not offer gluten or dairy free options except no bun and no cheese on a burger. The burger was cooked well done too, even though medium/medium rare was requested, there was no question as to whether the cow was dead. The mahi-mahi basket was quite a sad sight to behold with how little fish was actually included in the basket(pictured). The shrimp po-boy was very good and had a decent amount of shrimp included, but nothing spectacular(pictured). After I had finished eating I moved a tot and found a dead fly mixed in. The fly is a reason for a dropped star. However Bryan did get me a fresh basket of tots which was much appreciated. The beers were good and cool that they had a local selection. Stick to drinks on the menu though, margarita is not on the menu and it seemed like that was because they haven’t mastered the margarita yet. Not a drink to recommend. The atmosphere of the place was very beach and fun. Outside on the deck was very nice too. The story of how Neal and Pam’s got started was fun to read on the back of the drink menu too. Trivia was fun and different than any way I’ve played before. One thing I wish for trivia is the time for each question was 2 minutes, expect the last question each round. 3 minutes seemed to drag by. Overall, if I hadn’t found a fly in my food I would give it 4 stars. Fun bar to check out and I...
Read moreI used to enjoy stopping by Neal and Pam’s — good drinks, decent location, and a chance to unwind. But sadly, this place has taken a nosedive into blatant political messaging that completely alienates half its customer base. It’s shocking to see a local bar so tone-deaf that they openly broadcast Fox News, a network notorious for spreading bigoted, inflammatory, and often outright false content.
Let’s be clear — this isn’t about a difference of opinion. This is about choosing to air a “news” channel that pushes divisive rhetoric, attacks marginalized communities, and perpetuates culture wars all under the guise of journalism. When a bar decides to blare Fox News on its TVs, it’s not just playing a station — it’s sending a message about the kind of patrons they want and the kind they don’t.
It’s Business 101: you don’t alienate your customers by dragging politics into your establishment. A neighborhood bar should be a place where people of all backgrounds feel welcome. But when you make the intentional decision to shove propaganda down your guests’ throats while they’re trying to relax and have a drink, you’ve clearly chosen sides — and lost a huge chunk of your audience in the process.
Neal and Pam’s, you’ve made it clear where you stand. But in doing so, you’ve made it clear where I (and many others) won’t be standing anymore — and that’s anywhere near your bar.
Do better. Or keep watching your loyal customer base walk...
Read moreMy lovely wife and I decided we wanted to go out for breakfast And we wanted to try some place different that we never went before. I suggested Neal and Pam’s , for I have been reading good reviews for it. Well we went to Neal and Pam’s . Was very easy to find. Right across the street from Surfside Pier. They had outside dining but we opt to sit at the bar and look out the open windows with a view of the ocean across the street. Since it was 11 AM, decided it was okay for a morning cocktails. I ordered the redneck Bloody Mary and my wife ordered a mimosa. Our drinks came and we ordered our food. The wife got the Breakfast Bomb. Was a bowl with Home fries topped with egg, cheese, bacon and sausage gravy. I ordered The Deuce (Two Eggs w/bacon, sausage, or ham served with grits and toast). The place was pretty crowded for that time of the day ( guess that’s a good thing, means must be good food). It was great sitting there looking at an ocean view. Our breakfast came , we ordered another cocktail. Our breakfast was very good. Real good taste. And grits were perfect. Was very satisfied with our breakfast here. All the bartenders were very professional and courteous.. food was good. And ocean view was a big plus. The rest of menu was good. We will be back for lunch/ dinner to try the other meals. And did I mention the great ocean view. Lol. If your in Surfside, definitely...
