Check pizza for flies before eating! First slice of pizza I bit into had a large fly baked into it. When I called to tell them the manager never once said "Oh I'm sorry about that." Nothing. Just nonchalantly "Flies can't be helped, they're everywhere" as if it's a normal occurance. I had a photo but he told me I'd have to dig the whole thing out of the trash to "show his boss." So I drove back with trash in my car & he STILL was hesitant to give me a refund bc we ate three slices (out of 2 large pizzas). He immediately told the girl working there to throw it away (never took a picture "for his boss"). He also said he was the manager & when I asked his name he sarcastically asked me "What's YOUR name?" I wouldn't have been so bothered if he was not so arrogant & rude from the start. Customer service is everything and I was never once given an apology. In fact he acted like I was being ridiculous in asking for a refund. Yet we were not about to eat the rest of that pizza. So gross. *For the person who commented below about me, if I didn't know any better I'd say you were the man who treated me so rudely or you work there. I have no interest in "scamming" a small pizza place. My family member had gotten out of surgery that day & I was running around for her when she said pizza sounded good. Why would I eat half a slice, take a photo as proof, toss the rest, dig trash out, put it in my car, drive all the way back to refund her money, then post about it? I had been here a couple times before this incident. Never again though. I wouldn't have posted if the "manager" was not so condescending. Also my photo suspiciously disappeared. It is posted on other reviews sites though. And I just reposted on here. This is a health violation. Lastly, I'm so sad you will never...
Read moreMy girlfriend nudged me to try this place but just the name was a turn-off. Ben's Pizza? So finally one day we tried it and it turned out to be the best (thin crust) pizza in Surprise. Now, once in a while Native will turn out a decent pie as does NYPD, but they're super hit or miss, and you have to eat them there to be any good. Ben's, so far, has been "consistently" good with the same crunchy crust each time and still piping hot when it gets home (we don't live far). I'd give them 5 stars, but Pizzaria Bianco or Federal Pizza it 'ain't. I have ZERO faith the City of Surprise will ever see anything that caliber even though it has the potential. Their best "effort" to date is Oregano's with its soggy attempt at deep dish. Try The Rec Pizza up north with its high-sided cheese crust if you want an interesting deep dish pie. UPDATE! I had Ben's at 4 stars, BUT, after our 4th visit I took one star away. We tried a salad and their wings. Their "Garden Salad" is described as having romaine lettuce and it DOES NOT. It's your typical zero nutritional iceberg lettuce. Don't advertise something that's not. If you're out of romaine at the time, that's ok, just let customers know when they order it and let them make up their mind. We also ordered the garlic wings and not only were they small, they had no garlic flavor. So thumbs down on both of those and that's why they went from 4 stars to 3. We still like...
Read moreI had noticed this pizzeria while driving south on the 303. Tonight I wanted to try them after work. Glad to see they are open til 9:00pm. I ordered the 12” thin crust pizza with sausage, onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. To drink, a large fountain drink. They have Coca-Cola products for the fountain; and in the refrigerated case they have Pepsi products as well. The pizza came out in about 20 minutes. The pizza was fine. A good crust with no “fwop,” and nice pieces of vegetables. The sausage was thin slices, and very little flavor. It would be a huge improvement to get nice pieces of Italian sausage without any casings. Sausage should have nice pieces, and not sliced as if it is pepperoni. The cheese and sauce were good. Dining in there was ample seating. Not your typical restaurant setting as you place your order at the counter. There is some clutter, but nothing too terrible. The bathrooms are clean… with the lights off the fan doesn’t run to ventilate the restroom. One other observation. They offer one refill on fountain drinks. After that I believe there’s an added charge. The total for the check came to $19.80 after tax. A nice value for a quality pizza. And a pleasant find to keep in mind of places to...
