Better Buzz Coffee – Surprise — Restaurant in Surprise

I have had a terrible experience at Better Buzz time after time. First of all the accessibility is a pain. There is only one way in/out and the parking lot is beyond confusing and hard to get to. The food was inedible, and the drinks are consistently wrong (not to mention extremely overpriced for the quality and service you receive) because the staff doesn’t even know basic drink recipes due to lack of coaching and support from leadership. I literally heard the barista Heather, who was making my drink that she didn’t even know how to make it and instead of taking the extra time to educate herself or ask questions. she just pumped some random syrup into it and said close enough and then give me shots that had just been sitting on the counter until they were just solid black (I’m not even joking they had been on the counter prior to me even ordering and the shot glasses are clear so I could see grinds and dried coffee all over it) Idk about you but cold and dead shots with coffee grinds mixed in will absolutely ruin your drink even if it would have had the correct flavor. It tasted my pee pee ca ca for lack of better words. It’s clear they care more about their cute slogans and merch than actually delivering good service, speed, or quality. Negative feedback is either deleted or buried under fake 5-star reviews from employees and their friends. Customer service was awful and the managers refuse to take responsibility for any issues. But then again the managers on shift, idk her name because she wouldn’t even tell me she just rolled her eyes and ignored me. Was to busy making TikToks with the other what I assume to be managers to even care. They seemed extremely annoyed that I even interrupted them. I don’t blame the baristas, I mean cmon now they looked and sounded like they were being held hostage. You work at a coffee shop you are supposed to be having fun! it’s clear that poor leadership from the general manager julia (extremely rude with major RBF and just sitting on her computer in the lobby every single time I am here she doesn’t even try to help her baristas with anything) and her shift leads are the reason behind the lack of, well everything I’ve listed and more. No matter how hard the baristas try they won’t be able to get very far due to this issue. Honestly, I’d rather go elsewhere, where not only are my orders always consistent and obvious they truly care about what they do and enjoy it. The avocado toast is old and brown and doesn’t look appetizing , we ordered the better breakfast which the bread which was hard and it had kind of a slimy texture. My coworker and I ordered it to experience this place for the first time. when walking into the store was nice and clean then my coworker started to notice hair everywhere. It started to really gross me out. However, the staff didn’t look very friendly, yes they screamed “Hello and Welcome”, but it felt very empty and fake(like if it were forced). As we progressed through our not so pleasant looking food. we noticed a heavier set lady staring at my coworker and myself , she made my female coworker very very uncomfortable. She acted like she had dry lips, constantly licking them and staring at us ,super creepy!! We were hurrying up trying to finish our food to leave when we overheard two female workers speaking really poorly about their manager. The manager they state makes them feel super uncomfortable. My coworker and I are extremely upset after hearing all the different allegations. what really upsets me is these are kids for goodness sakes! When i looking around, we realized there are no men working here ! It all girls this is so WRONG! I am a huge advocate For LGBT+ community. But if people are complaining about the way, their manager is staring at them and watching them work something is going on! I hope that this reaches the powers at B and make changes immediately . Hands down a favorite of mine for years now when visiting California; so when I saw they were opening in Arizona a year ago I would drive to their Phoenix location whenever I could, then Tempe and of course this morning on their official opening day. Bright and early I made my way to the already formed line. Hoping to get a free hat and cup. Periodically some employees came out of greet us and get ready to help the double lane thru start. Right at 4:30 doors opened to smiles and welcome greetings. We received our awesome free items. While pretty long, the line went fairly quick. The entire time everyone was friendly and energized. Once at the counter I was asked if I was a loyalty member which of course I am so that I can earn points towards free and discounted drinks etc. they offer order ahead as well. Our cashier was so kind and calm through the chaos. The inside is quite smaller than other locations with limited sitting inside, but with the walkable areas around Surprise near the spring training field (this location) as well as Prasada this is becoming more common. They do offer good size outdoor patio seating at this location. Parking even though quite crazy this morning wasn’t an issue. If you’ve never been to a Better Buzz they offer more than just coffee. You can also find teas, smoothies, food, merchandise and of course coffee to go. Yes they are a chain, but it doesn’t feel like it. The nearby “other” coffee spot has a definite run for its money.
