Gennaro Pizza — Restaurant in Swatara Township

UPDATE: tried this place again and the pizza is very good. Crust, sauce, toppings all were great and very fresh. Taking my 3 stars and changing to 5. I think I found our new pizza place.

8/14/21: I’m giving 3 stars based on the benefit of the doubt. We weren’t very happy with our order but I believe it’s more of our expectation vs the quality of what was given to us.

We ordered a large Buffalo chicken pizza. It’s loaded with chicken and that’s not bad but my qualms came with the amount of ranch that’s on top of the pizza. Pizza isn’t bad though. I’m pretty sure I would have been happy with a cheese/pepperoni/or anything else. The amount of ranch was polarizing for me and I know for next time.

Also ordered a steak calzone. Good crust, steak was good but the ricotta inside threw me off. Wasn’t expecting it. I know ricotta is a thing in some calzones but the description on this one mentioned “cheese” so when I got ricotta inside it was surprising. Again, not bad just not what I had in mine. I’ll likely try again one day and I’ll update my review.

EDIT 11/26/2022: I went to Gennaro for the first time in a few months and it was awesome as always. The two owners are so friendly and said "when we see ask for extra sauce we know it's you" 😆 I ordered the special deep dish pizza (which is like "the works" with everything) and it was pictureworthy so I had to take a picture of it haha. Gennaro is for real the best pizza place in the area.

I've lived right around the corner from Gennaro's for a few years and can't believe I haven't tried them til just recently... I've been missing out. The husband and wife owners are Italian and are seriously some of the nicest people and their food is authentic and awesome. Delicious! We ordered carry out for a large party of +30 (kids and adults) and after a long day of a lacrosse tournament, we weren’t disappointed. We called two days before to ensure they could accommodate a large order. The next day, we gave them our order and continued to add items the day of as people joined. The owners were very accommodating and easy to work with. They did everything to ensure we had our order by the time we requested.
