What a great place!? I had to be out in Harrisburg for after work automotive training. They do not serve food there. This place popped up when doing a quick search of the vicinity. The 4.5 & up rating is what decided my choice. I just wanted to order something decent to eat back at training.
This place was easy to drive by & not much to look at from the outside. Once stepping up some steps & into a recessed wooden door, the atmosphere was quite different. What a lively & pleasant place? I did think I had entered the wrong place, as all I saw was the bar at 1st. I was thoroughly looking around & kept walking towards the rear, then found a "diner" like section there. A bright, clean area with booths & some tables.
The menu isn't extensive but there is variety. I visited this place the 2 nights in a row, while I was out there to train. Kristen? The bartender, was who tended to me, a beautiful brunette girl with a warm personality.
1st night, grilled or broiled salmon with fries & mash. Excellent. I was able to finish the entire entrée & felt satisfied. The seasoning & cook were great on the salmon. The mash was a little less thick than I preferred but flavor was great & still quite edible. Fries were a great cook as well. Good outside crunch combined with soft consistency inside. No soggy fries whatsoever.
2nd night. Chicken quesadillas with a side order of fries. I would say, these were some of the better quesadillas I had in a while. Larger cut veggies were used, along with more onions than I'm used to, but it worked. I was also able to finish every bite. This included some jalapeño slices & salsa, but I don't think there was enough salsa. Traditionally comes with sour cream, but I never care for that.
All in all, I'd definitely stop back in to eat there again, but possibly eat there on site instead. Great place to get fantastic food at reasonable prices. I recommend giving this place a...
Read more"During my recent visit to Paxtang Grill, I encountered a deeply troubling incident that highlights a serious issue of racial discrimination. I went with a group of friends to celebrate a special occasion, and as the only person of a different race, I experienced unwarranted treatment from one of the staff members. While I remained inside to settle the bill, the bartender took it upon herself to question my association with the group by approaching my guests in the parking lot.
This act of singling me out and assuming I was not with my own friends solely based on my race is profoundly distressing. It raises significant concerns about the establishment's treatment of individuals from different racial backgrounds. It's disheartening to think that in this day and age, such biases continue to exist.
What particularly troubles me is that my guests were asked about my presence without my knowledge or consent. This not only caused embarrassment and confusion but also perpetuated an environment of exclusion and unfair treatment. No customer should have to worry about being questioned or doubted based on their race, especially when their companions are subjected to inquiries without their presence.
I sincerely hope that Paxtang Grill takes this matter seriously and reflects upon the impact of their staff's actions. It is imperative for businesses to prioritize inclusivity, respect, and equal treatment for all customers, regardless of their race or ethnicity.
I urge potential patrons to be aware that visiting Paxtang Grill with individuals of a different race might result in uncomfortable situations, such as unwarranted questioning of your association with your own guests. It is my fervent hope that this review sheds light on the issue of racial discrimination and prompts necessary changes within the establishment to ensure a more inclusive and welcoming...
Read moreI love this cozy lil bar. The wait staff are fantastic and quickly learn your name ( I guess when you come in as often as I do, that happens). My favorite food item here is the chicken avocado club with bacon. It has everything I could possibly want on a sandwich. There are about 5 beers on tap and you get your usual cheap bar beers from the tap. There is usually one "craft" beer a flavor of Sam Adams and Guiness as well. The fridge is always rotating an excellent selection of "better" beers in bottles.
The place can get pretty packed, so you have to come at the right time for drinking or just if you want to stop in for lunch or dinner. The dining area is somewhat separated from the bar and there is also an outdoor seating area during the warmer months. This tiny little...
